@IwriteOK do you and the folks on @ALABSeries know each other? I just started listening (ok, binge-ing) ALAB, and I would love to hear Tarik or any of them on BtB, or you on their show.
@Gengar_Gomez@missmadiejean I meant defraud as a verb form of the noun "tax fraud". And yes, it would not be unreasonable to want an accounting of what these humans are doing with what is supposed to be the Lord's money.
@AutismGene @McMisoprostol I named mine Schrodinger's Fetus, because they had a 50/50 chance of making it to live birth. (They did, they're a healthy and utterly ridiculous 12 year old, and they, and the medical journey to get to this point, were a *choice* I made.)
@Gengar_Gomez@missmadiejean Well, I don't think members give tithing expecting that it'll be used to make profit and defraud the government (render unto Caesar etc). So yeah, it kinda is defrauding members
@MattB_Radio No, I think the problem is people understanding that what you said says more about you than about those who say, "hey, marrying literal children is gross and immoral."
@SteffanPowell@bbcworldservice it's not *just* JKR's transphobic statements. It's also the antisemitism in the books, movies, and this game. And yes, there's a trans character, but she's a harmful caricature.
@jessiejensen @ArnitaHeather I actually think having your heart broken by a book (and again and again) is an important milestone in a lifelong love affair with books. When Beth March died, that was a formative moment for me. Also it gives you an opportunity to model the full range of the emotional experience
@ericareport I don't agree that she *deserved* to die, though. I can wish better for her. She was attacking the capitol, and the officer was likely in the right for shooting. But I feel no schadenfreude. I wish she hadn't, and I wish the officer hadn't needed to shoot.
@ericareport I mean, entitlements is literally what they're called? They're called that because when you've paid into them, when it's time to retire, (or if you're disabled), you're entitled to social security and Medicare.
@LDSssTeacher I always felt it's entirely superficial. The community bonds are tight but shallow. Your experience referenced above is SO common. A community that's only there for you so long as you're following their religion isn't much of a community even when on their best behavior.
