#ShetlandQuestion If Scotland, as a minority in the UK, has the right to be treated differently from the rest of the UK, don’t Shetlanders, as a significant minority in Scotland who voted 63.7% against independence, have the right to be treated differently from Scotland? #SNP
Morrisons is the latest supermarket and major retailer to betray its staff and betray the public. A man who has worked for the company for 29 years sacked for the grave crime of getting into a scuffle with a scumbag shoplifter. A shoplifter who assaulted and spat on him. Yet Morrisons deem it appropriate I to sack their employee. It’s an indication of how far our society has fallen when doing the right thing gets you sacked. You all know what to do…hit Morrisons where it hurts…in the pocket #morrisons #boycott
@DrCalumMiller And i will, they will not get another penny out of me till they say how sorry they are for what they have done and give him his job back with a rise in wages.
@DrCalumMiller@gregspark100 Morrisons you're making a grave mistake, your stores are mostly in the North and we northerners don't like you putting migrants over this man who has worked for you for yrs, put it right before it gets out of hand, and people will walk straight passed and shop at other stores,💩
@DrCalumMiller@peteratcmc AGREE HOW DARE MORRISONS DO THIS THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS AS ALL THEY DO IS CHARGE EVEN MORE FOR GOODS TO MAKE UP FOR THE THIEVERY THEY ARE DOING NOTHING TO STOP IT.SOONER HAVE THE MANAGER WHO TRIED TO SAVE THE COST TO CYSTOMERS BY TRYING TO STOP THE VILE THIEVES 😱😱
Seeking to justify sacking a store manager after he tackled an abusive shoplifter, Morrisons said:
"As a responsible employer, our focus is entirely on taking the correct action to ensure health and safety is maintained at all times."
Sean Egan had served Morrisons for 30 years
@TheGriftReport@DarrenP37878903@Morrisons Was it ACTUALLY necessary to SACK Sean Egan? Surely if it went against your ‘deter and not detain’ policy you could at least have shown a little more balance than SACKING someone who’s worked for you for 30 years. Harsh guys, very harsh. A man doing the RIGHT thing!👊🏻
@Morrisons Sean Egan was at your Aldridge branch and has been in Morrisons for 29 years. He tackles a shoplifter and then you decide to fire him. Time to put it right, reinstate him.
SACKED AFTER 29 YEARS… for doing his job.
Morrisons has fired store manager Sean Egan, 46, after he confronted a shoplifter who had just spat in his face.
This happened at the Aldridge store near Walsall last December.
The thief a repeat offender turned abusive and tried to run off with stolen goods.
Egan stepped in and grabbed his arm to stop him reaching into the bag.
That split-second decision cost him everything.
He was dismissed on the spot for breaching Morrisons’ “deter, don’t detain” policy.
Sean had worked there since he was 17.
29 years of loyalty.
29 years of graft.
Gone.
Now he’s barely surviving.
No pay since January.
Family struggling.
Left with nothing.
He said:
“I’ve given so much to that business… I lived for that job. And in that moment it felt like everything I’d given was attacked.”
Morrisons says the policy is there to protect staff and customers and refuses to comment on his case.
But staff are furious.
Because once again, it looks like the system protects the thief…
and punishes the worker.
This is disgusting from Morrisons. Another employee sacked for doing their duty.
This doesn’t just encourage shoplifting…it invites it.
Criminals now know they can act with zero consequences.
HERO SACKED Fury as Morrisons sacks long-serving manager after he tackles repeat shoplifter in store showdown.
Sean Egan, who had worked at the Aldridge branch of Morrisons near Walsall for 29 years, said the thief lashed out after being confronted and restrained.
