CoreFootball Labs is live.
It’s a free NFL research site built to make advanced football data easier to use.
CoreFootball Index (CFI) brings together position-specific performance signals into one score, then shows the evidence behind it: efficiency, opportunity, weekly performance, matchup context, and more.
The goal is not to replace individual stats. It is to make them easier to understand together.

Caleb Williams is QB4 in our Week 6 CFI rankings so far: 71.7.
His completion rate was 15.3 percentage points above expected in Chicago’s win over Atlanta.

@packers Now you have to go against a @ChicagoBears defense that has been clicking. Compared to the @Buccaneers:
Chicago has a higher blitz %
Higher pressure rate
Higher QB Hurry rate
If the @packers can't get the run game going, its going to be a long day for the offense.
Sunday’s biggest surprises:
@Patriots win in @BuffaloBills despite two turnovers.
@Panthers beat @Lions : Bryce’s 87.1 weekly CFI backs up the result.
@Eagles go 0-for-12 on third down. Hurts had the worst QB CFI this week at 14.1
Philly worries me most. Injuries hurt, but Hurts being unable to move the ball flattened the offense.
Porter’s headed to Dallas, but Pittsburgh’s bigger concern tonight is its offense.
Both teams are 2–1. @Browns lead @steelers 49.4–39.1 in CTI, with Cleveland getting more out of its passing game.
Pittsburgh needs to give its defense some help.

@ryanmink@NextGenStats He's also gaining 0.48 rushing yards over expected per carry. Better space doesn't mean Henry is just taking what's blocked. The setup helps, but he's still adding something himself.
@jonmachota The extra help is the part that interests me. Dallas is allowing +0.41 passing EPA per play. If Porter can handle the boundary when he's ready, who gets the safety help he frees up? That's where this could improve more than one matchup.
@nolanbianchi Gibbs answered with an 87.5 weekly CFI, just ahead of Bijan's 85.2. The seven catches are what I'd want Detroit to keep leaning into. He can chase that kind of week without needing every carry to turn into a huge run.
@espn If he's cleared, Indy is allowing +0.19 EPA per pass play. That's a reason to like the matchup, not a reason to assume he's ready. I'd wait for the actual availability call before projecting his usual rushing production.
@PodcastTheRun The pressure is encouraging, but Atlanta's sack rate is still 3.7%. Shough is at 62.2 season CFI, so I'd be careful assuming he'll fall apart. Finish those rushes and it's a different conversation; getting close alone won't do it.
@hawkblogger Seattle's run game is at -0.21 EPA per play. That's why this feels bigger than just getting another back healthy. Week 5 is still the earliest, but when he's ready I'd want him helping sustain drives, not just taking a few spare carries.
@DieHard_Chicago Crosby's 65.8 season CFI puts him 14th among edge rushers, and he's pressuring QBs on 16.3% of his rushes. The appeal is making the coverage's job easier every week. I'd still want to see the trade price before calling it a no-brainer.
@EdOverRay Baltimore is getting +0.32 EPA per pass and +0.09 per rush. The run game isn't broken, but the passing game has been the bigger advantage. I'd be annoyed too if protecting a lead meant shelving the thing the offense does best.
@_EagleTimes The Rams are allowing -0.13 EPA per pass play but +0.02 per rush. If Philly's answer is just 'Hurts needs to throw better,' they're missing a possible way to settle the offense down. How they use the run game Sunday is worth watching.
@JesseSBSN The Raiders get +0.16 EPA per pass but -0.20 per rush. Forcing balance just to look balanced could help Spagnuolo more than it helps Vegas. They need to protect the passing game without wasting downs trying to establish a struggling run game.
@JesseSBSN Vegas is allowing -0.16 passing EPA per play, so this is a real test for Reid too. KC gets +0.12 EPA per rush. He has another way to move it if the passing game stalls; I'd watch how quickly he goes to that answer.
@RomeOdunzeSZN His Week 3 CFI was 72.6, second among safeties, with just one catch for four yards allowed on three targets. That's the encouraging part for me: he had the interception without giving much back in coverage. Now build on that week.
@Diamond_sound_P That gap shows up in our season CFI too: Steen 61.1, Jurgens 39.6. I'd want to see whether they can change the protection help before changing the lineup. Replacing the center also means changing part of the communication up front.
@_EagleTimes Smith's 71.5 season CFI is top 10 among WRs, so feeding him isn't automatically a mistake. I'd want to see the reads on those Wicks routes. Target share and separation alone can't tell us whether Hurts passed up the better throw.
@alexinsdorf99 The run game is where I'd start. The Chargers are at -0.26 rushing EPA per play, worse than their passing number. Improving Herbert's side of it won't get them far if the runs keep making the next play harder.
