Recently, middle school students were able to participate in a field trip to the Lake County Executive Airport. Aligned with our real world learning expansion and middle school STEM curriculum course, Air and Space. @mentorschools@OhioACTE@OHEducation

Friday was a beautiful day for Flight and Space students to launch their solid-fuel rockets that they’ve been working so hard on constructing! #OnceACard#YOURShoreMiddle
Our 6th grade Robotics and Design students at #YOURShoreMiddle have been working hard to create and assemble skimmers with precise measurements and folds to see who could launch the furthest. Congrats, Dane! #PLTW#STEAM#OnceACard
Lost Nation Airport hosted our 7th grade Flight & Space ss today to experience our #PLTW#STEAM curriculum in the real world! We saw airfoils up close, discussed how planes fly, and explored a variety of careers in aviation #YOURShoreMiddle@DrGlavanMHS@MrDwyerMentor#onceacard
My boys at home let me borrow their toys to serve as landing points for our “Drones to the Rescue” mission in Flight and Space. 7th graders entering each class immediately got huge smiles on their faces and began playing w the toys 😊 #bigkids#drones#YOURshoremiddle#onceacard
Things are HEATING UP in Flight and Space this week as ss design airfoils on the NASA Foilsim, trace them onto foam, and cut them out with a hot wire cutter. Next up, wing assembly and testing for lift! #yourshoremiddle#onceacard
We’ve been busy learning about the Engineering Design Process in our Flight and Space class. Everyone loves the “Build and Test your Design” step! #yourshoremiddle#onceacard
Shore 6th graders overcame fears and got up close and personal with native reptiles and amphibians- some for the first time! 😁🐍🐸🐢#yourshoremiddle#onceacard
Tomorrow is first day with students.
Sadly I had a conflict BEFORE I got hired so I can't be there (sound of heart being ripped out)
But I have an amazing co-teacher who is getting the "ball" rolling... and by ball, I mean dice.
Students will be greeted at the door, asked a question about themselves, given dice and directions for the game Farkle.
They will play in groups of 3.
In this class, we have fun, work together, strategize, value different ways of doing things, and communicate our because.
#LearnLap
So you help them feel successful (scaffold, manipulatives, treat mistakes as pathways for new learning), and it's such a good feeling that they get the motivation to chase that feeling! ❤️
I was fortunate to be chosen as the chaperone for not one, but TWO of my sons’ field trips this year at @orchardhollow! I love spending time with our elementary school students, and seeing my kids enjoy time with their friends! #onceacard
