All Department of Education offices will be closed Tuesday evening and Wednesday for unspecified “security reasons,” according to a memo sent to all employees https://t.co/bO4Smh9GYP
The Department of Education is vital in ensuring ALL students have access to quality education.
We should be funding our educational institutions, not tearing them down. LDF will fight any attempts to dismantle educational opportunity and access.

HUD has scrapped the Affirmative Furthering Fair Housing (AFFH) rule — requiring states to prove they were actively combating housing discrimination. Now, localities only have to promise they mean well. This is a major setback for fair housing. https://t.co/ZAfWvKfGmv
A doctor has been serving one of Baltimore’s poorest neighborhoods for decades — and if his patients can’t pay, that’s OK with him.
So when he was diagnosed with cancer, his community rallied to raise $100,000 for his treatments.

60 years ago, a group of brave civil rights organizers marched across the Edmund Pettus Bridge in Selma, Alabama in the pursuit of justice and equality. Today we’re reminded of their courageous sacrifices, and tasked with the responsibility of doing what we can to carry forward their work.
“All we say to America is ‘Be true to what you said on paper.’”
These words from Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. resonate deeply today as the right to protest and freedom of the press are being threatened by the current U.S. presidential administration.
Don’t look away or think it doesn’t matter.
Reach out to your local and state governments, and your Congressional representatives, regarding protecting these critical rights.

Happy Birthday, Howard University!
158 years ago on March 2, 1867, the charter was signed that established our beloved institution.
A lot has changed since 1867, but two things that have remained steadfast is Howard University’s commitment to producing leaders, change-makers, civil servants, activists, and more while also being the home to innovation, culture, excellence, and possibility.
And during our Charter Day Convocation on Friday, February 18, our 18th President Ben Vinson, III reminded us of that very fact.
“In these walls, in this sacred space that we call the Mecca, we are encouraged to be our best selves…to innovate, to inquire, to be bold, to discover the frontiers of excellence.”
As we celebrate our history, legacy and the future of Howard, let us remember the power of possibilities.
