@johan1151951 So... Homelander pulls an Invincible/Omni-man/Thadeus and blows up Earth?
Or would that be called "pulling a Frieza?"
Strong as he is, I don't think eye lasers could wipe out the planet. They would barely take out a small town, tops.
@David_Da_Boss He still wanted to be perceived as a kind and loving god. Destroying any city unprovoked would've tainted that image. It wasn't until he realized only 20% of the US (and probably 0% of the planet) embraced his claim as God and he decided "screw it, Imma kill everyone."
@BasedPota18 A-Train didn't walk in on Homelander in the comics. That was actually Black Noir, dressed in HL's costume, bemoaning that he is being held back from the mission he was made for- killing HL. It was shown during the reveal that BN would dress like HL to do terrible things.
@ihatemeen_ Stormfront stroked his ego by promising a kingdom where he would rule. She gave him permission to indulge in his worst impulses, and his goal of becoming king of the country and enslaving all the "normies" was in the back of his mind until he met Sage, who gave him an actual plan
@David_Da_Boss Ryan was torn. He WANTED to love HL, but HL had no idea how to parent. Butcher was a terrible parental figure as well because Ryan was a reminder of Becca's rape.
Really, it was hard to love one dad who just wanted you as a prop and another who wanted you erased from existence.
@emmywayne64 Because he sucks at his job. Homelander can destroy easily, but SAVING people seems way too difficult for him. He failed in his first mission and Black Noir had to kill everyone to cover it up (if "Diabolical" is canon) and there's the infamous Flight 37 incident...
@David_Da_Boss I was expecting HL's master plan to be like Professor Bias from "Liveman." Bias used 10 "Thousand IQ Point" brains to amplify his psychic energy and cause the world to mindlessly worship him. I figured HL was going to do that on a smaller scale and get the mainland US to do it.
@lorxell She'd see it as a "test" of her faith. If HL were arrested instead of killed, she'd probably go to Vought tower, get as much Compound V as she could, and smuggle it in HL's prison so he could have his "second coming."
@dauntlesseskimo Homelander got everything he wanted and still wanted more. Butcher sacrificed everything in his life to kill HL, and when he finally did, his life was empty and he decided to pursue a new quest rather than move on and live a quiet life. Billy was a tragic character.
@realsjokz@lorxell Homelander was the main threat to everyone. The Big Bad. But every member of the Boys had a more personal nemesis. Deep forced himself on Annie, Firecracker outed her abortion. Hughie had A-train, MM had Soldier Boy, Frenchie had Lamplighter. HL was Butcher's personal nemesis.
@lorxell In season 1 A-train was just as dumb and narcissistic as Deep and showed no real remorse for killing Robin. Hughie forgave him eventually and he switched sides. Annie was willing to do the same, but Deep was just the absolute worst version of himself by this point.
@Diviam_wiljon Hughie and Butcher had two separate goals. Hughie joined the Boys to kill A-Train but eventually realized AT was small potatoes compared to Homelander and Vought, and stopping them was just the right thing to do. Butcher wanted HL dead, but sacrificing so much left him empty.
@fw_Badman With all the foreshadowing surrounding Butcher, there was absolutely no way Homelander could have won. A true hero is the opposite of the villain and Billy became a monster to take down a monster. But Hughie is Billy's opposite, and it makes all the sense that he ultimately wins.
@bigbrownson I've been rewatching the first season. A-Train was just as selfish and egotistical as Homelander and Deep and Hughie joined the Boys SPECIFICALLY to get revenge on him for killing Robin, but when the moment finally comes, Hughie's true character shines and he SAVES his nemesis.
@viztur Vought isn't gone. It completely disowned Homelander and seems to be preparing to just make another one. Butcher was trying to stop that from happening. I think SB might be disappointed that his son used his new power selfishly but accepts that he ultimately got what he deserved.
@Jamaldeen_moh Homelander's main weapon is his eye lasers, which Superman can easily tank. Superman knows several Kryptonian martial arts. HL just punches. Superman gets stronger with sunlight. HL's power level never changes, or it may have gotten WEAKER after the V1 immortality.
@Creativemelody1 I think Soldier Boy wanted to be known for his own heroics and not just be "Father of God." When Homelander saw SB get some attention earlier, he immediately outed him as his dad so he could get the spotlight back on himself. In his mind his family is just extensions of himself.
@fw_Badman Most likely is reserved for Season 2 if the show is a success. She's officially recorded as the love of Soldier Boy's life, so she's got to be in his series at some point...
