I wouldn’t say that any of those countries you have listed are examples of pure socialism or communism either, especially not China. I’m not familiar enough with North Koreas system to have a discussion on it. The Soviet Union was an authoritarian centrally planned system that had some elements socialism and communism but was neither.

Did I say that it was the best time to be alive? No. It depends on who you are, as does any time. To be in power and have $ during any period of time could be considered “the best.”
Not much changes for the oligarchs whatever economic system is in place but capitalism provides some for upward mobility for the working class rather than a system of government control of just about everything.
