If US political campaign policy tightened up so each candidate had standardized, policy related oral exams and homework assignments hosted on C-SPAN would we end up with a more effective government? Creating a record of nominees viewpoints would be so useful.

@allgood_logan24 Also tbh, the ethics of campaigning in the US are inherently unethical so we may as well encourage the use of campaign money to look hotter. With the house and Senate taking in $3.8 billion in campaign funds in 2022 everyone in the Capitol should be Bratz Doll level yasssified.

Encourage people in your life to ask their peers if their PCP or OB/GYN offers STI testing! If they find a clinician who does ask that they be given kudos. This plants conversation seeds in your community outside of your immediate circle.

Physicians hold a social status where their everyday opinions tend to hold more weight than a typical citizen. Conversations with neighbors, friends, kids’ friends, hairstylist, etc about HIV treatment and to talk to their PCPs about their testing habits makes a HUGE impact.

Talk to peers about the importance of approaching testing for STIs as a standard activity and discuss the danger of using assumptions that someone being married, elderly, seemingly vanilla, or shy as a reason not to test!

Plus, when AI builds itself from existing data and keeps building, but could it build to understand hyperlocal references? Like, if a client describes a classmate as “very JeffCo” what would it do with the reference?

The AI in Social Work squad can do so much good if they find ways to use documentation to find patterns (ie, “this client tends to have a full voicemail box when they relapse”). My fear is the dismissal of human connection as a critical piece to social work.

@JeffDemond I change my answer: Injury first aid! Especially those dealing with fire, alcohol, and heavy machinery because rural teenage-hood is different. You know they already have plans to see if Jackson can jump a four wheeler over a bonfire.

@JeffDemond SLEEP!!!! The local/state/federal health communication covers the basic preventatives (diet/exercise/mental health), but sleep gets left in the dust. Same with community building.

@H3MADRI @VirtueOfNothing I do believe the article is referring to adverse patient outcomes resulting from the dangers of failure to communicate as a teammate. For example, if a surgeon inadvertently contaminated a sterile field there has to be an understanding that an RN calling timeout is not an insult.
