If every one of us had to write a check to politicians for everything they said we "owed" them each week, there would be nationwide revolts until the tax rate was cut down to almost nothing.

Their favorite taxes are ones they can hide as much as possible.

Corporate taxes, excise taxes, tariffs, inflation.

They love these because you just see the final price of the things you buy. You don't realize how much of that is the government's cut.

And you definitely don't see how much of it is the result of your dollar being devalued by endless printing of more dollars to fund endless spending by politicians.

Sure, they love sales taxes and withholding of income for payroll taxes too, because they don't have to wait for you to give it to them. But you can still easily see what those cost.

The more they can hide their cost from you, the more they can convince you that they they're the only ones who can help you make ends meet, not that they're responsbile for your struggle to do so in the first place.

Imagine if you will, a dystopian world where the governmental system set up to protect the people from tyranny is tyrannized by the will of the people. And unaware of their selfish ignorance, the people allow their lust for control and power to become so unreasonable that they lose control and become tyrants unto themselves, enslaving not only the current generation to this ignoble behavior but damning many other generations to follow.
