@claireyount12 @GCSHealthPE I agree...we should always be encouraging and celebrating our students. I like your practice of having students work in pairs and holding each other accountable.
@GCSHealthPE I like to regularly pause class to recognize a student that is demonstrating good sportsmanship/good attitude/following directions etc. This puts them in the spotlight and encourages positive behaviors in others.
@BeitelKristin@GCSHealthPE Great idea! Students will be more motivated if they set goals. Some students will stop at the minimum level so by having them set their own goals they are more likely to put the effort in to reach it. #GCSDPEChat
@Rebecca76666624@GCSHealthPE Very well said! Like the video said...getting the students to focus on their best vs trying to be the best in the class will help students focus on being successful at their own level and that practice is a key component of being good at something. #GCSDPEChat
@GCSHealthPE My takeaway from the podcast is to design fitness opportunities so that every student can be successful. One way is to have exercise integrated into an fun activity. Also, you can have students perform an exercise of their choice while waiting for their turn. #GCSDPEChat
@ScottEron3 @Rebecca76666624@GCSHealthPE I also agree that class size affects our ability to assess students. When possible we fitness test during station activities using one of the stations for certain tests (height/weight), sit-n-reach, truck lift) . That way you are focusing on 6-8 students at a time. #GCSDPeChat

@TheDriveCoach11@GCSHealthPE Great idea...This would work great on the elementary level after giving the FitnessGram. I could see that as being a great motivator to get the students to the next level. #GCSDPeChat
@TheDriveCoach11@GCSHealthPE I like the partner assessment idea! I'll have to check with the media center to see if I could check out the iPad cart for that! Great Idea!! #GCSDPeChat
@MHSMavsBball@GCSHealthPE I find that students that give their best individual effort are the ones that improve their skill performance the most. On the elementary level 80% of their grade is participation and giving your best effort. #GCSDPeChat
@LeGate28@GCSHealthPE Having classes in different color shirts really helps with organization. Our art department does a yearly tie dye project with students and they wear their shirt to field day. I also use colored wrist bands when dividing classes into teams. #GCSDPeChat
@GCSHealthPE@PattiColwell The best time for us was in May close to the half days. We used to have it in April but had to reschedule too many times due to "April Showers"! #GCSDPeChat
@ScottEron3 @GCSHealthPE@Rebecca76666624 I agree...we used to used two teams per class but now use three so the students don't have to wait very long. I like stations that celebrate completing a task rather than winning. #GCSDPeChat
@GCSHealthPE The best thing I ever did was use "Sign Up Genius" to sign up FD volunteers. Easy to communicate with them and is great if you have to reschedule due to weather. What doesn't work for me are stations that take too much time per student like putting items on and off. #GCSDPeChat
