✨A warm welcome to our newest book club ✨
‘The Famous Ten Book Club’ is a fantastic group of young adults with Down syndrome who meet every month in our HQ Lending Library. The Famous Ten are enthusiastic readers who love classic stories, music, cooking & sport. Their meetings are lively; everyone gets a chance to share and the support the group give each other is second to none! 😄
The Famous Ten is an apt name for this book club as many of the members will be representing Munster in the Ireland Summer Games this month and we want to wish them all the best of luck!✨🙌

🌟📚 Summer Stars returns!! 📚🌟
Starting in June, Cork County Council Libraries are delighted to welcome children across the county back to Summer Stars, the national summer reading programme that runs throughout June, July and August.
Summer Stars is all about enjoying reading right across the summer holidays — discovering new stories, revisiting favourite books, and making reading a fun, regular part of summer life. Children are encouraged to keep coming back to the library to explore books, e‑books, comics and more, reading at their own pace and in their own way.
The programme is free and non‑competitive, with no targets or pressure — just the joy of reading and the excitement of finding the next great book.
Drop into your local Cork County Council Library to sign up and keep the reading going all summer long.
Let’s make this a summer filled with stories, imagination and a lifelong love of reading 📖✨

🌟📚Filleann Réaltaí an tSamhraidh !! 📚🌟
Ag tosú i mí an Mheithimh, tá ríméad ar Leabharlanna Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí fáilte a chur roimh pháistí ar fud an chontae ar ais chuig Réaltaí an tSamhraidh, clár náisiúnta léitheoireachta an tsamhraidh a bheidh ar siúl i rith mhí an Mheithimh, Iúil agus Lúnasa.
Is éard atá i gceist le Réaltaí an tSamhraidh ná taitneamh a bhaint as an léitheoireacht ar fud laethanta saoire an tsamhraidh - scéalta nua a fhionnadh, athchuairt a thabhairt ar na leabhair is fearr leat, agus an léitheoireacht a dhéanamh mar chuid spraíúil, rialta de shaol an tsamhraidh. Spreagtar páistí chun teacht ar ais chuig an leabharlann chun leabhair, ríomhleabhair, greannáin agus go leor eile a iniúchadh, ag léamh ar a luas féin agus ar a mbealach féin.
Tá an clár saor in aisce agus neamhiomaíoch, gan aon spriocanna ná brú - ach an t-áthas a bhaineann leis an léitheoireacht agus an sceitimíní a bhaineann leis an gcéad leabhar iontach eile a aimsiú.
Buail isteach i do Leabharlann áitiúile de chuid Chomhairle Contae Chorcaí chun clárú agus an léitheoireacht a choinneáil ar siúl i rith an tsamhraidh.
Déanaimis samhradh seo lán le scéalta, samhlaíocht agus grá don léitheoireacht ar feadh an tsaoil. 📖✨

Delighted young explorers stepped into a world of imagination and movement at our Fairytale Yoga session with the wonderful Mandy Engelke Desmond of Seanachai Yoga! 🌿✨
Through storytelling, gentle yoga poses, and playful breathing, children journeyed through enchanted lands, meeting magical characters along the way. From stretching like tall trees to curling up like sleepy dragons, every moment was filled with creativity, calm, and joy.
It was fantastic to see so many smiling faces engaging their bodies and minds, building confidence, and discovering the magic of mindfulness in such a fun and accessible way. 💫
A huge thank you to Mandy for bringing her unique blend of yoga and storytelling to #MacroomLibrary, and to all the children who joined us for this special event. We loved sharing this magical adventure with you!
All participants were delighted to begin their library journey and took home their first Little Library Book Bag.

We had a lovely intimate session with two authors yesterday in #Macroomlibrary.
Madeline D'Arcy and Kate Barry discussed the possible reasons why some people publish books only in their later years.
Madeliine shared what inspires her and also brought a prop which evoked ideas and memories and a great discussion .
A lovely event!

📖✨ Poetry Day Ireland 2026 ✨📖
Poetry Day Ireland is an annual all-island celebration of poetry and creativity - and this year’s theme is “Home”.
This theme invites us to reflect on what home means to us - whether it’s a place, a memory, a feeling, or a community. It’s a powerful and deeply relevant theme in today’s world, and one that poets continue to explore in many different ways.
💬 Today, people across Ireland are taking part by:
• Attending poetry events
• Visiting their local library
• Reading or reciting a favourite poem
• Sharing poems with friends or online
📚 Why not join in?
Pick up a poetry collection in your local library, revisit an old favourite, or discover something new. You could even share a poem that feels like home to you ❤️
