My take on @AdamBandt and @Greens support for Labor's mechanism. This greenwashes a scheme that does nothing about the majority of Australia's emissions or offsets for a dubious cap that Labor can 'amend the rules' on. The Minerals Council says it will 'change very little'
By agreeing to pass the safeguard mechanism reforms, Labor’s signature climate policy, the Greens have helped greenwash the continued expansion of fossil fuels.

@younggreensau Do you mean @vic_socialists? Not really interested in Labor hacks but genuine socialists should definitely join us https://t.co/NeztEc7ps5
Victorian Socialists candidate for Cooper, Kath Larkin: "The business elite have always been opposed to vital life-saving health measures if they see them opposed to profits."
"This rabid movement being led by neo-Nazis is only giving backing to the already powerful in society."
@9NewsMelb No amount of nuance and debate is going to stop these people — they must be opposed in the streets to break the confidence that emboldens violent actors like this.
Stand with us, protect our community.

@TheDohertyInst What are ‘optimal public health measures’ if not lockdowns? Must be pretty miraculous if they reduce infections by 99.3%. All cover for the Liberals to ‘let the bodies pile high’ in order to keep profits flowing. @lockdowntozero
School Strike 4 Climate say they'll call the police to "move along" anyone who disobeys them at the upcoming May 21 climate protest. Activists shouldn't call the cops on each other. https://t.co/6diBmVJjKG
On this day, 27 Nov 1981, 300 mostly migrant women workers at the Kortex factory in Melbourne staged a strike. The women were stood up by a Textile Workers' Union official, who didn't show for a Friday meeting about their pay claim. The women planned a strike for the next Monday.

The Victorian government has banned groups of more than 10 gathering for a common purpose. This constitutes an attack on the right to protest. Thousands can gather at shopping centres & beaches, but as soon as they meet for a political purpose this becomes an illegal act.
From January 1, the JobSeeker rate will be cut to just $715 a fortnight, forcing many people back into a situation where they're skipping meals and medications. Keep December 12 free for a protest in the Melbourne CBD. Let's campaign to stop the cuts and raise the rate for good!
It's official, Jorge Jorquera has won the recount and been declared an elected Maribyrnong Councillor. We have a VS councillor!!!!!
What an emotional rollercoaster it's been. This is such a great step forward for the Victorian Socialists and for the left in the western suburbs.
Maribyrnong Council is too close to big developers & big business. We need local representatives who'll fight for the interests of working people in our community. Victorian Socialists is standing candidates in all three wards: Jorge Andres Jorquera, Liz Walsh, and Andrew Charles
Absolutely appalling that @RMIT cut hundreds of staff and then asked for people to VOLUNTEER to take up their work! Meanwhile our Vice Chancellor Martin Bean makes $1,000,000! Join the fightback! https://t.co/KXLXtgW2Fb #RMITStudentsFightBack
Right now RMIT students are facing attacks from both our vice chancellor (cutting $300 million!!) and the federal government, who are trying to cut uni funding and increase fees by up to 113%! Get involved in the #RMITStudentsFightBack https://t.co/KXLXtgW2Fb
Residents in the towers are as skilled, conscientious & resilient as you'd expect:
"I've been involved in public health projects like this & if the govt had to do it on their own, it would have taken them at least 6 mths to get that translation work done." https://t.co/oGWmqml79R
Victorian Socialists will host a public forum with residents in the public housing blocks under detention orders this Tuesday from 6PM: https://t.co/8HyZJKDLEB
