On this day, 27 Nov 1981, 300 mostly migrant women workers at the Kortex factory in Melbourne staged a strike. The women were stood up by a Textile Workers' Union official, who didn't show for a Friday meeting about their pay claim. The women planned a strike for the next Monday.
