Localization is only half the problem in the "current era." Increasingly, Japanese developers are watering down their own past (and present/future) material at the source to match "modern sensibilities" that don't actually reflect their own vision or why the audience even engages with their works.
It shouldn't matter if a character is "insensitive" or any other perceived negative trait; it's fiction & should be allowed to feature anything without constant moral reminders of why it's bad or erasing it wholesale to blur the lines between fiction & real life.
The original Persona 4 was released in 2008 & already it is considered "outdated" by the everchanging standards of current era. Creative works aren't supposed to have an expiration date, they're always a reflection of the time they're made in & shouldn't have to be "updated" every so often to fit rapidly changing imposed societal standards.
There is no point in creating if it cannot simply continue to exist without being continuously updated for standards that are just going to change again anyway.
At this point, anyone who values these works should stop buying these remakes & continue to let the developers know that you will not be supporting any diluted versions.
@CZN_Official_EN I noticed in all chapters/story mode that certain sets of still backgrounds with no characters are copped more than they should be. is this intentional or a bug?
