The new year has brought a rise in south wind swell. The offshore buoy is showing 3.6 ft currently. Wave height looks to be thigh high with some occasional bigger sets. The air is a very mild 65 degrees, and the water is 50. It’s a very nice first day of 2019!

Wave height is ankle to knee high. The water has dropped in temperature the past couple of days down to around 49 degrees. Low tide was at 9:08 AM, so looking for a longboard wave sooner rather than later will be your best bet for getting in one last surf before 2019.

Today's surf is just like yesterday's: choppy & chilly. Wave height is still only kneecap with white water sections. Wind chill feels like 32 degrees with an 11 mph coming out of the ENE. Corolla might start seeing an increase in wave size starting tomorrow accompanied winds:

I think the best plan for today is to stay warm, spend time with your family & friends. The wind is out of the ENE at 11 mph & choppy surf. Wave height is around thigh to waist high with an outgoing tide: MERRY CHRISTMAS, HAVE A SAFE AND HAPPY 2019! (catch lots of surf!)

Christmas Eve surf is nothing to brag about! Keep cooking and wrapping presents and spend time with your family. The wind is out of the north at 16 mph. This s chopping up surface conditions and leaving us with only kneecap high waves. But this has been a great surf season.

The sun is out, Corolla has a very light wind out of the SE, glassy conditions and thigh high waves. You will definitely need a longboard but you get away with 3/2mm with boots & gloves. Corolla currently has an outgoing tide and no clouds in the sky.

At this posting Corolla has an outgoing tide, a west wind blowing at 20 mph and thigh high waves. A 20 mph wind is just too much power will knock the juice of the surf down throughout the day. H20 temp is still about 50 degrees and air temp is 51 degrees.

Corolla has a steady rain, warm air temps and choppy kneecap high surf at this posting H20 is 46 degrees and air temp is a warm 61 degrees Fahrenheit. The wave forecast is for the surf to start building this afternoon and possible peak out a head high sometime tomorrow: #corolla

The surf actually started to clean up yesterday afternoon. At this noon posting, wave height is high to thigh to waist. Corolla has an incoming tide (4:26 PM), so surfing this early afternoon should work. GARY, COROLLA @CorollaSurfShop

Surf &the wind are coming out of the ENE. Wave height is only thigh high and surface conditions are very choppy. Corolla has a wind chill in the mid-'30s and a rough ocean. A front from the ENE means much cooler weather. Looking for flights to Latin American? @CorollaSurfShop

Wave height has dropped since yesterday: thigh high with an incoming tide. The wind continues to be off-shore at 12 mph. This is helping to keep the sections open. My concern is that incoming will cause the surf to drop off until just at sunset. Air & H20 47. #corollasurfshop

At this AM posting, Corolla has a glassy ocean with kneecap to thigh high swell. The wind out of the East but only moving at 5 mph. The tide is still incoming so the small surf will drop in size. All things being equal, you might want to recheck the surf around 1:30 PM: #corolla

The ocean has claimed down since yesterday. Corolla is at high tide at this posting. The wind is light and off-shore only moving at 11 mph. Current wave height is waist plus with open sections. Recommendation is to wait till 12:00, let the tide go out: #corollasurfshop

The East Coast's winter storm hit us yesterday. High winds made it dangerous for us to go outside due to falling branches from our Carolina pine trees, but the house and cars are unscathed. The ocean is out of control, as to be expected. Corolla has a northeastern right now.
