In 2022 we have papers coming up from Niall Curry, Primo Jurko, Chavalin Svetananta & Brian Ballsun-Stanton, Stefano Rastelli & Akira Murakami, Luke Collins & Andrew Hardie, and Nicole Hober, Tülay Dixon & Tove Larsson.
Tip for prospective Corpora authors: we don't require you to make 100% of the changes that reviewers ask for. We do expect most of the changes to be carried out but if you can provide convincing reasons why you don't want to make a change, we'll listen.
If you get a request to review something and aren't able to then it would be lovely if you replied to decline. You don't need to give a reason but if you wanted to recommend an alternative reviewer then that would be even lovelier.
Issue 16.2 is available, featuring articles from @alicedeignan and @lovermob, Timo Korkiakangas, Evandro L.T.P. Cunha and Søren Wichmann, Valentin Werner, @12pri34, Tomas Graf and Lan-Fen Huang
Tip for prospective Corpora authors (and new authors especially): Don't let the existence of a review that asks for changes put you off resubmitting - the vast majority of papers require some sort of revision before they get published.
Our most read paper to date in 2021 is Inter-religious relations in Yorubaland, Nigeria: corpus methods and anthropological survey data by Insa Nolte, @clydeancarno and Rebecca Jones https://t.co/GLCtU3vycc
Tip for prospective Corpora authors: no-one likes a bad review (and we all get them). Don't take it personally, give yourself time before responding and approach them as dispassionately as you can. If it's a reject, the feedback can sometimes be useful in submitting elsewhere.
Corpora journal would not exist if it wasn't for our reviewers. We are hugely grateful for the work they put in - and we're pleased to announce that all reviewers now receive a 20% discount on Edinburgh University Press books.
And it’s here!!! I loved reading this book! Sooo many great chapters for people doing research or teaching academic English. Read my review and the whole book too!
Issue 16.1 of Corpora is out now, with a free article by Michael Gauthier entitled "‘Eww wtf, what a dumb bitch’: a case study of similitudes inside gender-specific swearing patterns on Twitter" https://t.co/Kv0ZxdHWqm
Coming up in 2021 we have reviews of books authored by Ute Romer, Viviana Cortes, Eric Friginal, Yuan Tao, Tony McEnery, Andrew Hardie, Nagwa Younis, Jesse Egbert and Paul Baker.
Tip for prospective Corpora authors: Just because your paper involves analysis of text won't necessarily make it relevant for Corpora Journal. We prioritise papers that use and develop corpus methods and tools.
