Dude played brilliantly today. I’m American and am cheering for my national team but I know after Belgium our odds of winning are slim. Hopefully Norway can win it. That’s who I’m realistically cheering for to win. They’ve done amazing so far and Haaland is awesome. Bro deserves to win alongside the rest of Norway. 🇺🇸: The FIFA World Cup should be held anywhere but the United States of America going forward.

The world is starting to sour on the fact that we gave the football World Cup to the United States of America.

No other host has so completely confused running a tournament with running a parade about itself. America grabbed 78 of the 104 matches, every knockout round and the final, then sat Mexico and Canada with 13 games each. Then it bolted a Super Bowl halftime show onto the final, because ninety minutes of the world’s favourite sport apparently cannot entertain anyone without fireworks and a pop star.

This is the low life patriotic chest-thumping we were warned about. Flags everywhere, wounded pride, a host nation absolutely certain the planet tuned in to admire it rather than the football. We saw this exact film in Russia 2018, and America is beating that record comfortably.

Mexico and Canada gave us the real thing. Warmth, noise, genuine love for the game. We should have left it with them.

Wake up, FIFA. This is the ONLY logical solution.

Been following the World Cup this year since it’s in the US and I figured I’d give my own perspective on the general consensus that Americans are feeling about the event thus far.

Firstly most of us didn’t give any care about soccer till this whole thing started which is hilarious as most of us grew up playing AYSO and soccer was a formative part of most of our childhoods. That has changed now though as most of us have gotten in spirit and are now rooting for our team and also many of the other teams playing. Part of that is due to the amazing fans who have come to visit us.

Many of us were genuinely rooting for the likes of Scotland and Japan to win their stages because it meant the fans of said countries would be here longer. As it stands I think most of us will be devastated when Norway goes home cuz let’s be real, they’re rowing is awesome. Cheering for underdogs like Cape Verde who only qualified for the first time this year, and Mexico which finally beat its forty year long curse and made it out of the r32 has been thrilling. Seeing all the different groups coming here and having so much fun has made it an unforgettable experience. Only ones who weren’t being cool were the Ausies, but Egypt handed em their comeuppance so that worked out nicely.

It may sound selfish saying this, but most of us probably wish the World Cup happened here every year now. Having the world come here and play on our continent has allowed us to make friends we never thought we could have. Has honestly done so much to show the world who Americans really are regardless of governments or differences. It’ll honestly be sad when it’s all said and over with.

To everyone who came and who is still here regardless of there creed or religion, thank you for coming here and having an amazing time with us. Tie that in with Americas 250 birthday today and it’s been something to never forget and we couldn’t have had it without all of you!
