Good to attend the Meath on Track meeting this evening. While progress on the Navan rail project is welcome, North Meath cannot continue to be overlooked.
Kells, Athboy and Oldcastle deserve better connectivity. The pressure must stay on until this project is delivered ✅
@NoStems24 The political order that we had prior to the Norman Conquest was designed to be decentralised. More often than not, different kingdoms recognised the authority of the High King, with quite a few having the island united behind them - for example, Brian Boru.
Flags and symbols matter, but they’re not the biggest barrier to reunification. Overcentralised political power is.
If we want reunification to become more likely, we need radical decentralisation and major structural reform across the 26 counties!
Lots of chatter about the Irish flag in a re-united Ireland
Nothing new there - The Irish Independent once suggested 10 different potential flags for an independent Ireland
This was 1912, with the announcement of Home Rule
The tricolor was one of many, the harp the most popular choice - until 1916

@DonnachaMaguire@higginsdavidw@rte Absolutely, and the rest of North Meath.
At one point, the three towns in the municipal district all had stations. Now, the topic of bringing rail back to these areas barely gets any attention.
I was delighted to organise this trip in collaboration with @SenatorKeogan. Sincere thanks to the Senator, her staff, and the Leinster House team for their warm welcome and hospitality.
A memorable and enjoyable day for everyone involved 🇮🇪
There was great excitement in the capital yesterday as a wonderful group from Kells visited Leinster House 🏛️
The group enjoyed a guided tour, watched Dáil Éireann in session from the gallery, and even had the chance to meet the Taoiseach for a chat!
Over in Mullaghmeen Forest this evening - right on the Meath/Westmeath border, home to the largest planted beech forest in Ireland (and apparently Europe as well) 🌳
This is a good start, but of course we are a welcoming people in the Royal County - I’m sure there would be room for even more counties in our province…
@DSMooney@LimerickCouncil@moranjohna1 Can we even say he was deputising?
It would be my understanding that you would have to be a councillor at the very least in order to deputise…
If this became the norm, you could have anyone rocking up to an opening wearing a chain of office on behalf of the Chair or Mayor
@ConorReddy95 And sometimes voting independent gets you the four TDs already backing a no confidence motion.
It is funny how the narrative flips, first dismissing independents for a lack of unity, then criticising them for not acting in unison…
Anything other than acknowledging the reality
@BrianFi97640968 I know who calls the shots. In the video I referred to myself as a constituent - Im within my rights to ask all TDs, government & opposition, to act in the public interest. I see myself as a community rep, like colleagues in parties who act as LARs. My loyalty is to the community
We need action, not excuses.
Working people are being hit hardest while politicians argue. It’s time to put people before politics and deliver real relief, now.

Through kindness, courage and a sense of duty to one another, we continue the work of those who came before us.
I hope your Easter is peaceful, and spent in the company of those who matter most.

Happy Easter to you all!
This morning, I visited the Garden of Remembrance at the Fairgreen in Kells to lay Easter lilies in honour of those who fought for our Republic, especially the men and women of Kells and North Meath who gave so much in its name.
Easter is more than a holiday, it is a time for reflection. A Republic is not something fixed or guaranteed, it is a living promise that depends on the willingness of its people to uphold its ideals. Each of us has a role to play, in our communities and in our daily lives.
