@citizen_mask its a huge red flag when someone tries to be a "steward" of something as broad as tokusatsu. A list of your favorite shows or even a particular era you enjoy is going to tell me so much more about you as a person than if you try to be a walking encyclopedia

There's Japanese scholars of tokusatsu who have seen basically every tokusatsu and analyzed them in great depth and interviewed showa, Heisei and Reiwa era creators.

But they seem heavily ignored by a lot of American tokusatsu discussions?

Terribly close minded, Galápagos syndrome, Japanification, neglecting (or even avoiding) global perspectives, terribly low English proficiency, and so on.

One thing I noticed is often a lot of Japanese experts on Japanese media tends to get ignored simply because their works aren't translated into English.

You would think more non-Japanese fans might consult those Japanese experts first before making big comments and takes online

@Jonthezilla Tbf, Daiei had to avoid Toho styles bcz of a very strict inter-company agreement.
This made godzilla vastly superior in kaiju genre. Also, this agreement also killed some actors including who appeared in a Gamera film.
