Code name: Blue Devil 🔵
Originally built as a 2008 Corvette Z06, the Blue Devil was transformed by General Motors into the first C6 ZR1 prototype. Powered by a supercharged 638-horsepower LS9 V8, it previewed a new level of Corvette performance, becoming the foundation for a production car capable of exceeding 200 mph.
The nickname “Blue Devil” came from the project’s internal code name, a reference to Duke University’s mascot and the alma mater of then-GM CEO Rick Wagoner.

Rock & Lori Snyder's 2001 Corvette is more than a show car—it's a mission.
After serving 22 years in the U.S. Army, Rock transformed his C5 Corvette into a rolling message of PTSD awareness and support for fellow veterans.

One of the defining characteristics of the 2011 Corvette ZR1 was its extensive use of carbon fiber, a material that helped engineers reduce weight in key areas of the car while advancing Corvette's approach to performance and innovation. General Motors built 806 Corvette ZR1s in 2011, and only 64 were finished in Crystal Red Metallic like this one. See it in person in our 'Driven to Preserve' exhibition: https://t.co/ep4VQUWBEE
Get popped for a DWI in Suffolk County, and the government doesn't just takes your car. Forever.
That's exactly what happened to the owner of this low-mileage, $60,000 Corvette C8. A car most people only dream about. Gone. Just like that.
The Suffolk County Police Department seized it under civil asset forfeiture laws, slapped police decals all over that gorgeous body, and bolted a custom "SEIZED" plate on the back like a trophy on a wall.
And here's the part that'll make your blood boil. They're not even chasing bad guys in it. No high-speed pursuits. No patrol routes. It's a rolling billboard. A flex. A PR prop they roll out for parades and community events to show everybody who's boss.
This is where it gets messy. Really messy.
One side says: GOOD. You drink and drive, you're a danger to everyone on the road, and losing your precious toy is exactly the kind of wake-up call that saves lives. Actions have consequences. Don't want to lose the Vette? Don't get behind the wheel hammered.
The other side says: Hold on. This is state-sanctioned theft, plain and simple. You can be charged for not even convicted and the government gets to pocket your $60,000 asset, dress it up, and parade it around town like spoils of war. Today it's a drunk driver's Corvette. Tomorrow it's your car over something far more questionable.
Punishment for a crime? Or a cash-and-flash grab dressed up as justice?
Where do YOU draw the line?
