it’s interesting that the christian men who don’t think david raped bathsheba are the same men who think women should have sex with them whenever they want…
@joshua_boe First drafts are usually rough, and writing is a skill that takes a lot of practice. Keep at it and you'll see results in time. Best of luck!
@RobynJunia That said, I converted because I read the Gospels and Jesus's teachings seemed sound to me. Even if I'm wrong and there is no God, it's still the way I want to live my life, giving of myself freely and loving others. So I stay.
@RobynJunia Well, I can only speak for myself, so my response concerned 'stay' rather than 'become'. Given how soiled Christianity's reputation is, it's certainly a hard sell to bring in new people, and rightfully so.
For myself, I stay because my belief is reinforced by my own experiences.
I gave this Image of Christ the title Change. I portrayed Christ as a unhoused person. His sleeping bag is his halo. His cup says change. Some interpret to mean he is asking for change. Yes! But not just coins, but substantial systemic change. Prints in many sizes.
@takeme2urlieder Well, we all either believe something or we don't. It's no more supremacist to believe everyone goes to heaven than it is to believe in any other kind of afterlife, or God(s), or philosophy. It's only a problem if you demand everyone else believe as you do.
@CrimsonEsquire@davidwrobertson@kevinmyoung This is, unfortunately, what humans do best. Cultures with power impose their will upon those without it. Christianity is not unique in this. Just ask the women oppressed under extremist Islam, or the Palestinians under Israel, or the lower castes under Hinduism, and on, and on.
@UhmmWhat1 @AbnosomeAlyssa Like it or not, they do. Muslims, as well. Christians and Muslims have additional lore, mythology, and theology, but all three Abrahamic religions worship the God of Abraham. It's not even a matter of theology or interpretation, it's just historical fact.
@AbnosomeAlyssa While I disagree that they're "essentially the same religion", all three do share a common root, and worship the same God. But each are distinct from one another in their own ways.
@JoyLamentation @jacobhuneycutt_ Amen. Too many make idols of their traditions and man-made rules. "Christianity" as we know it today would be unrecognizable to Christ.
@jacobhuneycutt_ @JanForren @MicahBBurke Neither were the apostles at the Last Supper, since "the Church" didn't yet exist. I can't think of any mention in the gospels wherein they were baptized beforehand, either.
If someone feels moved to partake, whether baptized or not, then who are you to refuse them?
@krgrrnd@RevEd_902@WurzelRoot If there is such a thing as hell, then I've been on the path toward it before. It was a dark, bitter, hateful way to walk. But Christ found me, even there, and showed me a better way.
I respect Ed for his wisdom and love, but he's not the One who leads me.
@RevEd_902 Not sure what inspired those folks to spam the chat on tonight's stream, but you handled it with a measure of grace I can only hope to emulate. You continue to set a much needed example, and I'm thankful for it. God bless, Ed.
@ShadowHawkX I've never interacted with you before, so maybe it doesn't mean anything for me to say it, but I'm certainly not mad/annoyed/upset with you.
I hope you can find peace soon. If you need someone to vent to, or rant at, feel free to message me.
