Apparently the boomer-led GOP's strategy to address to young people's concerns over the rising costs of basic living costs (food, housing, and gas) is to gaslight them and tell them just to work harder and save money.

These people were born into a life where the majority of America could buy a home on a one-income, pay for college with a summer job, and retire comfortably on a pension and social security they didn't even fucking fund.

Then they turned around voted for every single shit policy that made that life impossible for everyone behind them.

Policy that strangled housing supply for forty years and turned their own house into a lottery ticket. Reckless deficit spending on a scale no previous generation would have tolerated, financed by devaluing the dollar their kids and grandkids would earn. Federal student loan guarantees that let universities price like cartels because the government promised to pay whatever they charged.

Every one of those policies moved wealth in one direction. Upward, into assets they already owned.

They did not just get lucky. They pulled the ladder up behind them and sat in comfortably in retirement gambling and going on cruises instead of creating generational wealth for their families.

And now their answer is skip the coffee, get a second job, learn to budget. Like the 30 year old making 70k in a market where the median house costs 450k has a spending problem and not a math problem.

That's not advice, it's the story they tell themselves so they never have to be accountable for their selfishness and greed.

They are the most ignorant generation in modern American history. Because they had it all and decided their comfort mattered more than their children’s future.

Young people should be furious about this.

Genuinely, sit with it and let it burn kind of furious.

Now, understand something harder. This is still your problem. The people who did this do not give a flying fuck about you and most of them will be dead before the bill fully comes due.

There is no reckoning coming for the boomers. There is only what you guys build from here.

Fixing this will take more than complaining online. It will take a generation that outworks, outbuilds, and outlasts the one that broke it. It will take men who have kids they cannot quite afford, start businesses in a market rigged against them, own property they had to fight for, and refuse to hand their sons a worse country than they got.

I fully believe the younger generations will become the greatest generations of modern Americans.

My son works full time here in Florida. Let me run his numbers.

State minimum wage is $14/hour. He's at $15.

40 hours a week = $600/week
That's about $2,600/month before taxes.

Florida has no state income tax the thing they sell you on. So after federal and FICA he takes home roughly $2,200.

Average one-bedroom in our area runs about $1,600.

That's 73% of his entire paycheck gone to rent before he eats a single meal.

Leaves him around $600 a month for:

- groceries
- gas
- car insurance
- health insurance
- phone
- emergencies
- savings

Car insurance alone eats a third of that in this state.

He works 40 hours a week and cannot save a dollar. Not because he's careless because there's nothing left to be careless with.

I spent thirty years paying off a house here. He's doing the same job I did at his age and he can't afford a one-bedroom.

That's not a discipline problem. That's not avocado toast.

The floor moved and nobody lowered the ceiling.

Working full time should cover a roof. In Florida it barely covers the rent on one.
