When you hear the terms "failing schools" and "students first"you know your public education is under attack. "failing" is code for "high Poverty". "Students first" means "some students first"and not those in poverty or of color. Disingenuous at best. These are old recycled

terms from ALEC and they are not supported by research. These types of choice measures haven't improved student outcomes in other states and they won't in Iowa. We still enjoy a reputation for great public schools in Iowa. Let's not screw it up.

For the safety of our staff, students, and community, the BCSD School Board has decided to delay the first day of school until August 31st. The school board will reconvene on August 26th to review the state of the public health emergency and plans for reopening school.
