@Ti_Enjoli Recently was going through a very similar experience. Itโs a numbers game. Just gotta keep going, but you WILL find something. Looking for a job is a full time job. You got this! ๐ช
It also took the help of a few key mentors. I have learned that much of oneโs success is built upon their network. Finding the right network as a PhD grad looking for work outside of academia is difficult. So, I am trying to pay it forward. Please reach out if you want to chat!
I started my job as a Forensic Data Analyst for the City of Chicago. โจ๐๏ธ๐ป Finding a meaningful, non-academic job that would challenge & help me grow was not a straightforward process. Would love to chat/provide connections if youโre looking into DS-related/non-academic careers.
What I learned to do was network A LOT, build more DS skills, and learn how to communicate my experience in a way that non-academics would see the immense value in it. It took months, hundreds of applications, & a handful or two of interviews before I finally landed a few offers.
We have a sad but necessary announcement to make: we are retracting our paper "An Eocene army ant", published this past November in Biology Letters. (1/5)
@exostellavela At least Denver isnโt too far away I think! If I remember right, thereโs a non-stop bus from Boulder that goes to downtown Denver in an like hour! :)
