Back Rooms was a disappoint for me.
It felt like a concept in search of a story. There were lots of visuals and set design to appreciate, but ultimately, it just didn't have the fundamentals of what makes an interesting story.

964 Pinocchio is legitimately Weird. Charmingly low-budget, with an absolutely bonkers premise. Scenes go from absurdist to disturbing and back again. Recommended for fans of Tetsuo and real indie film making.
We've gotten a handful of people reporting late or missing issues. We're trying to get to the bottom of why this is happening, but if you've been having any issues at all with your CHM subscription, please contact [email protected] and we'll make it right.

Weird fiction is one of the most challenging to describe genres—and everyone seems to have their own thoughts on what it entails. What's your definition of the Weird?
Painting: The Double Secret (1927) by René Magritte
A neurotic simp gets monkey paw'd. 10/10.
Tons of suspense, good scares, strong performances. Probably one of the most uneasy viewing experiences I've had in a long time. Recommended.

HOKUM maybe wasn't the scariest of Damian McCarthy's films (for my money, that's ODDITY), but I do think it was the best. Interesting character drama, great setting, and a strong central performance.
Our friends/cellmates at Goblins & Galaxies are open for submissions till May 14! Send them your best sword and sorcery, fantasy, or sci-fi!

Anyone else kinda excited for HOKUM? I feel like we have a good stretch of new horror this month between this, OBSESSION, and BACKROOMS.
Any that you're particularly stoked on?
