How many years until Brawlhalla 2 is made and in a modern game engine?
Imagine up to 24 players in a match (over 8 players is more like how a camera setup more like Byte Breakers) and make it 3D like Rivals 2 with an in game tournament system that advertises grassroot TO’s
@ltsKairos Another problem is I think almost all gamers have played the game before. Without a big reason to play again it will be hard to regain players who have already tried playing and stopped. After the in game tournament system this year I would start thinking about the next game
@ltsKairos Yeah I don’t mean changing the style of gameplay, but without literally starting again with a new engine, development is probably so much slower than what it could be. Maybe something 2.5D could work where cosmetics can port over while getting 3D and/or parallaxing maps
@Sharkcrome The combat would still be 2D, but the visuals would be 3D, like Smash. 3D combat that feels like a fighting game is a bit more like Spar Kart
@ltsKairos Make two games instead of migrating from one, and support both long-term. I think game dev is getting easier every year, but it's still very difficult
@kamaalkun Both games should continue being free to play games getting updates. Even a spiritual successor would be awesome! If it doesn’t get made soon, everything the team is learning from making Spar Kart is going to help so much! Would be a dream come true to help make a game like that
What is everyones thoughts on using AI for ideation, like a better Google Images (mood board), then pay an Artist to make a better, final, polished version? Maybe there is a way non-artists can use it as a tool to better communicate with artists before commissioning? (1/2)
@LunariaMoon1 I’m not a defender but I think it can be used as a tool ethically. For programming it’s game changing and for art I think it’s a great research tool. I would never post or use slop but I like using it the same way I like using google images, for references
@smeargled Definitely the artist can do it on their own. I see it as a tool to help us find even more and to save time. It’s always humans deciding if it even is a good or interesting idea at all. I like having the conversation how this tech is truly helping us and is immediatelyactionable
@smeargled 💯 agreed although along side that I think human creativity has a lot of factors including reference material ofc. Also many artists & developers like myself are huge visual learners where image generation in the researching stage of a pipeline can really help improve ideation
@smeargled This is just one implementation of using it as a researching tool to help compare different ideas to save time by reducing potential iteration cycles. Also ofc generative AI has been game changing for programmers. I think there is a way to use this tech as a tool ethically imo
@smeargled I have seen a bit of interesting design considerations when feeding an image generation model my games art. Ofc it’s slop and shit but often within the slop there are like 1 or 2 interesting decisions. Doing this on a local AI model helps offset any environmental impact too. 1/2
