When Caleb Williams came to Halas Hall in Spring of 2024 for his initial visit with the #Bears, he wasn’t convinced they were the best fit for him.

Caleb’s initial meeting was with Ryan Poles. The Bears GM broke down the situations former number one picks went too and said, “is there any of these situations you would prefer over the one we have put together?”

Caleb thought about it and said “no” but relayed his concerns over the coaching staff. Ryan Poles assured him he had the same concerns and that the following off-season had upcoming offensive coaching candidates that Caleb would be able to sign-off on.

After that initial meeting Ryan Poles brought in team President Kevin Warren and Assistant GM Ian Cunningham.

Warren relayed to Caleb that this isn’t the same old Bears. That all three of the Bears brass had hesitations when coming to an organization following 20-years of failure.

Then they went brokedown their own qualifications, Warren noted how he spearheaded the Vikings stadium build then as commision of the Big Ten he changed them into a super power competing with the SEC, acquiring teams from the PAC12 and landing record setting advertising and TV deals.

Ryan Poles relayed how he was Brett Veaches right-hand man for the last 10-years on the Chiefs.
Then Ian Cunningham did the same in how he was molded by Howie Roseman and helped develop the Eagles.

The proven track record of the Bears leadership and the roster which was unlike any number one pick had ever experienced was enough to put a smile on Caleb Williams face and tell them.
