@JessieSorores I don’t have to imagine... We’ve postponed every single one of our weddings for 15 months. None of our bookings for the 3-4 months we were allowed to open in 2020, & April/May/June 2021, wanted to go ahead with such few guests. We absolutely need parity with other industries!
@JessieSorores Oh, don’t get me wrong, they should! I’m not trying to suggest they shouldn’t, nor that any particular business in this industry is worse off than another. I’m just pointing out none of us are in a better position than another either. We’re all in the same awful position.
@JessieSorores It just means we weren’t forced to close and so ineligible for grants, and still subject to licence fees etc. It’s rubbish for everyone.
@JessieSorores Agreed. The entire industry is suffering, and I’m grateful for all you’re doing. But being allowed to open at the end of last year’s season, and now outside only, doesn’t mean any couples want to go ahead with 15.
I will leave this here. The events industry. Worth £84bn a year. All of it opening in May except weddings. Despite being the 3rd largest sector. Worth £5bn more than live sporting events. £8bn more than football. 👀🤷♀️

THREAD. While allowing wedding ceremonies alone to go ahead would be a welcome relief to some couples & return their legal human right to marriage, it will result in businesses staying closed. This must be considered. It is precisely why we need a roadmap, with dates. 1/17
