In 1848 Chartist and poet Ernest Charles Jones was jailed for two years in solitary confinement for calling for the Prime Minister to deported instead of the leader of the Irish Nationalists.

On this day in 1862, this rousing, anonymous, angry poem was published in the Burnley Free Press. 157 years later it was recorded by @faustusmusic Follow the link next to the poem to hear their version.
