Congratulations to Westland freshman Sophia Lenihan on winning the OCC Capital Division Championship in pole vault with a school record 9’ jump! Sophia has rewritten the Westland record books multiple times this season, and we’re excited to see what’s next for her.
High school players need to be realistic about recruiting. Some guys who are going D3 in 2025 could've been low major D1 guys and at the very least high level D2 players 10 years ago. The game has changed.

As a reminder, 🗓 tomorrow evening, SWCSD sophomores and their families are invited to the South-Western Career Academy (SWCA) for its annual 10th Grade Parent Preview Night from 6–7:30 p.m.
Ahead of the Parent Preview Night, both today and tomorrow, sophomores from all four high schools are visiting SWCA during the school day. These visits give students the opportunity to explore the facility, hear directly from instructors, and participate in hands-on activities in the program labs to see if one of SWCA’s programs might be the perfect fit for their future goals.

Class of 2024 seniors: Were you a high school senior notified today that you have won scholarship money from the new Governor’s Merit Scholarship program? This is actually not spam!
On Friday, some @SWCSD seniors were named 2024 @MikeDeWine Governor’s Merit Scholarship winners based on class standing. The scholarship provides up to $5,000/year in financial assistance to eligible high school seniors based on academic achievement.
In the event your senior received such an email, there are additional steps these students must take to register as outlined in the award notification. Building administration will follow up with students individually; however, we wanted to share this great news with families upon notification this weekend!
