Personal news: I am moving in a new direction with my legal career. While I have practiced labour & employment law for a number of years, I am moving into the field of private investigations. Time for a π§΅β¬οΈ.
It is an interesting blend of public information and gum-shoe investigating. It may involve scraping social media, surveillance, pre-text conversations, and a host of other things. Bottom Line: it is the process for finding people!

What is a "skip trace"?
If you've ever been trying to find a missing witness, you might have heard this term. A skip trace is the art/science of finding someone's location. How does it work?
Heather Carroll spent over two decades with the CPSO and has investigated some of the most significant regulatory cases in the Province of Ontario. We are very excited to have her join the team!
I am very excited to announce that Klatt Investigations is now offering investigative services to regulatory bodies across Ontario! Canadian Regulatory bodies have a difficult job - ensuring that their members conduct themselves according to the profession's rules.
We pride ourselves on the depth and strength of our investigations. We have legal counsel, retired law enforcement, and now, one of the former lead investigators for the College of Physicians and Surgeons on our team!

I have always found that people want to refer work to those they like, trust, and respect. Competency is a must. When I network, I try to demonstrate all of those qualities and my passion for the work.
@RileeDHarrison I have to wonder in part of the question was based on a possible belief that the lawyer put the judge under surveillance? That would be a breach of several rules here in Canada.
Why work with a third party? Expertise is one factor, but so is employee comfort. We often find that employees will voice significant concerns more freely as compared to internal reviews.

Are you worried that your ex-spouse may be hiding assets while going through a divorce?
A strong family lawyer will demand the other party to disclose bank accounts and other financial documents to determine whether a spouse is hiding anything.
