Sharing something I learned:

If presenting in front of a group, use the microphone. Asking if everyone can hear without a mic can put undue pressure on those who may be hard of hearing, feeling like they have to put their needs over our comfort. Inclusive spaces use the mic.

I’ve learned so much in my PhD program about motivation theory & noted how much it overlaps with trauma informed learning practices. Why not combine them to make a win-win for students & school staff? Thanks to all who listened today and to @AKoenka for what I’ve learned so far!

@jacobrosecrants School counselors have too high caseloads and are pulled into inappropriate duties at their sites. They could support students so much more if they could do the jobs they are trained to do and had appropriate caseloads.

A student’s parent was late for pick up. I saw him trying to hide a tear that had slipped from his eyes. It took 5 extra minutes for me, but since then, I have received the brightest smiles from him all week. These small moments of connection seem to be the biggest impact. 💜
