I think the reason for that is the Hope that he provides. Like at first glance he looks and acts delusional but we later realize he just wanted to live a fulfilling life😕💔 and uses hope as a way to help the others

Plus I really dislike loud events so a chill concert with him is very appealing for meee

Chapter 5 wasn't as story-rich as i would like it to be like Vaguepost King Asgore was genuinely annoying but where it doesn't deliver in story progression it sets up the main party for the "Ordeal" or the "Death" stage of the hero's journey (1/6)
