Christians made this up to scare people into doing what they want them do. Don't let it scare you into following a religion out of fear.
Gd loves you and created you exactly the way you are. He understands that we sometimes make mistakes, but He wants us to keep trying to be better people. There are times in life that are difficult and sometimes we feel sad or embarrassed by our bad choices. As long as we use those feelings and expiriences to make better choices next time and we ask Gd to forgive us, He said he will forgive us immediately. Sometimes people make really big mistakes and do some pretty bad things. There are aleays consequences to those actions, but even if we have to deal with consequences, it doesn't mean He ignores us when we are sorry.
