South Korea ๐ฐ๐ท $EWY is having its best week since December 2008.
+16.6% in 5 sessions. +230% over the past year.
This is not a Korea story.
It's a memory story โ and Korea owns the memory market.
Here's we explain why...
Every Nvidia GPU needs HBM memory to run at data center scale.
HBM can't be manufactured at speed. CoWoS packaging capacity: sold out through 2027. DRAM prices: +75% in a single month. Customers now booking supply for 2028.
This isn't a demand spike. It's a structural realignment.
$EWY is 44.5% SK Hynix + Samsung.
SK Hynix: ~50% of all HBM3E capacity on the planet. Samsung: signing 3-5 year contracts. Record Q1 earnings.
90% of Nvidia's production costs now come from Asian suppliers (was 65% a year ago).
Korea doesn't have exposure to AI. Korea IS the bottleneck.
The companies at the center of the biggest tech cycle in decades...
SK Hynix: 5.1x NTM P/E Samsung: 5.3x Micron (best week since 2008): 8x SanDisk (+450% YTD): 9.5x
S&P 500 trades at 21.5x. Nvidia trades at ~37x.
The world's most irreplaceable chip companies trade like commodity steel mills.
Now the uncomfortable part.
Distance from 200-day moving average: SanDisk: +295% โ SK Hynix: +157% โ Micron: +155% โ Samsung: +112%
Fundamental case is real. Technical extension is also real.
