@elizjprice @Mr_Rablin Recitation was important because they believed in memorization of - well, pretty much everything - was the way to teach, but they also covered a lot of different subjects and topics. They had to pass a test to graduate from the 8th grade & they were hard tests.

The @PBPreservation Little Red Schoolhouse visited 4th Grade this week to reenact learning in a late 1800s one-room school. The "living history" program gives students the opportunity to learn Spencerian script and experience classic recess games in turn-of-the-century uniforms.
