I've gone to Bluesky but resurrected this account just to tell you how wrong you are. Fans have been begging for the corrupt scoring to be fixed for YEARS. 10s should be special and EARNT because it's a sport not scripted reality TV.
I am sitting here watching NCAA gymnastics and the empty seats are concerning. I care deeply about the growth in women’s sports especially in the NCAA. If you want fans to enjoy the sport and increase viewership, you have to look at what makes the crowds go crazy! People understand what a perfect 10 is and want people who do things that look great to be rewarded. Too many deductions taken at a judge’s discretion feels the same as watching a basketball game that’s constantly interrupted with penalties or a football game with flags on every play. At some point it feels negative and loses the entertainment factor that draws the crowd in. The number of questions I am currently getting from fans about the scoring is significant enough for me to share this concern. I love the art and intricacy of gymnastics but let’s get more eyes on the sport!
As a fan, I'm never gonna be able to feel happy and excited for someone winning a medal ever again because I'll be thinking we have to wait a week and see if it'll stick first. @gymnastics you suck and you have ruined the Olympics.
So if the judging error for accepting the inquiry can be overturned then shouldn't we also overturn the original judging error that lost Jordan a tenth in the first place?
How can it be fair after five days to reverse an inquiry result on the basis that the inquiry was a minute late? If a minute matters, then five days certainly matter more. Can we challenge the result of all the other medals now?
brazilian gymnast flavia saraiva fell off the bar during warm ups, patched up her eye, and is now *hitting* her routines with this mug on. hard as fuck
I'm gonna need Laurie Hernandez to commentate on all heart-racing sporting events and also be my emotional support person for all future job interviews, high-stakes presentations and hairy driving conditions
@thorpeheath And we can feel safe that we can trust Simone to know her body and take herself out if she needs to. She wouldn’t compete if she didn’t believe she could safely.
