Just finished this book, "The Choice: Embrace the Possible" by Dr. Edith Eger, a Holocaust survivor and eminent psychologist. Her story of finding her way out of victimhood and into embracing the possibilities of her future is powerful.
As the new year approaches consider letting go of a Victim Orientation and embracing a Creator Orientation. To learn more about what all that entails read David Emeraldโs โThe Power of TEDโ. Life-changing, inspiring and liberating.
Avoidance and accommodation are two conflict styles that result in no resolution to the conflict. With an "avoidance" style, both parties lose. With an "accommodation" style you lose and the other party wins. Choose "collaboration"...it's a win-win strategy!
What you accept is what you teach! Indeed, we teach others how to behave. Be sure you are aware of how you let others treat you and behave around you. Take corrective action, as necessary and appropriate.
Some folks are addicted to emotional "drama". They only get "buzzed" if someone else participates. Drama junkies will try to create some so they can get their "fix". Choose to not participate by politely declining their invitation to engage. You'll add years to your life!
Powerful Presentation Tip #2: Start thinking about all future presentations as "performances". Performances are important advertisements of YOU. They deserve creativity, preparation, and rehearsal, including video recording and review.
Powerful Speaking Tip #1: Always have pen and paper, your smart phone or a digital voice recorder available so you can capture your most brilliant presentation ideas. They never occur when we expect them and we can never remember them 5 minutes later.
Remember: You have no control over what other people say and do, only how you REACT to what they say and do. Choose your reactions wisely...youโll save yourself a ton of heartache, embarrassment, and grief.
If someone isn't paying attention, maybe it's because the person talking isn't saying anything worth listening to. Make sure you are never "that person"...always be interesting!

Stephen R. Covey: "You can't talk yourself out of something you've behaved your way into." This is hard to accept when we've behaved poorly over time and then we try to quickly "fix" it. #CHOICES2018
