Industry in a town is a good thing, but depending on where it is, it might not be as good as it seems, according to a neighbor of where the manufacturing would take place. Ron Zaremba was present, June 4, for the Cornell City Council meeting, speaking on behalf of his neighbors.
Sean Partridge, on behalf of GFL, spoke to the LH Town Board, May 20, on the services they offer & what can be done to improve garbage collecting. The town is considering options to make it easier and cheaper for taxpayers, while saving wear on the roads.

Georgia Arts, member of the Holcombe Area Veterans Memorial Planning Committee, shared what she’s learned, May 6, in her research on grant writing. It’s possible that the memorial can get funding from the county, state and federal level, instead of going to private organizations.
It was shared, May 18, at the Lake Holcombe board meeting, that there always seem to be issues with the milk from Prairie Farm, who has been the provider for a number of years, with the cartons leaking and the milk spoiled.

It wasn’t a big storm system that passed through Cornell, May 26, barely dropping more than a few drops of needed rain, but it did make for a spectacular lightning show, including a pink-tinged heart design, as the natural electricity rippled across the darkening sky.
The bee hovering outside the high school commons/gym doors in Cadott, saw a facelift this spring, with a new paint job. The doors to the entrance also will see some sanding and repainting.

Lisa Leasum was present, at the Lake Holcombe School Board meeting, April 27, to discuss what she’s done, under the Stronger Connections Grant. Leasum is working with each class, to learn what students need, in the way of physical, intellectual, social and emotional support.
The new Cadott Community Library is almost done, right down to the finishings, with a planned opening around the first week in July. A grand opening is scheduled for later on, to show everyone the new digs.

It’s still a work in progress, but the event barn at the Wisconsin Veteran Farm & Winery, Cornell, is coming along nicely. Owner Dan Osborn is excited that he not only has a nice space for people to use, but that he was able to preserve a unique & still relevant piece of history.
Cornell 4th grade teacher Rachel Sproul (right) thought she was simply taking her students on a field to trip to the Capitol in Madison, May 14. Upon arrival, she was presented a plaque from Gov. Tony Evers (left), recognizing her many years of service and dedication.
