Someone told me yesterday that when they feel nervous about doing something & their heart starts beating really fast, that they call it their "Inner Applause" because their body is cheering them on, and I think that's the cutest narrative adjustment ever 🥹
When a parent dies your whole mind has to rewire to adjust the reality of the only human who has known you forever no longer being present on this earth. I don’t care if yall were besties or hated eachother. It is an incredible loss & adjustment that your heart & mind is constantly processing. I wish more people realized this.
I can vouch for this. We filled out the paperwork to be a food vendor specifically with barbecue and had planned to be there for the entire celebration. Stopped hearing from organizers late last summer, and here we are. Truly sad what has happened, this would have been a truly incredible event.
The real reason you're tired all the time: It's not your workload. It's your open loops. The text you haven't answered. The apology you owe. The decision you're avoiding. The conversation you keep postponing. These run in the background of your mind all day, draining your battery. Close your loops. Watch your energy return. Mental clutter is more exhausting than physical work ever will be.
I’m always impressed by people who never stop learning. Pick up a new language, learn to sew, take a cooking class, try pottery, or sign up for dance lessons. There’s something really attractive about people who stay curious.
