Mi parte favorita de la biblia es cuando Jesús, en vez de decirle a las mujeres como vestirse, le dice a los hombres que se arranquen sus ojos y corten las manos si no son capaces de controlarse
HOT TAKE: Under capitalism, it's very normal to let children go hungry, let banks force people out of their homes, let sick people die for lack of access to healthcare. But the idea that billionaires could just be less rich, not poor, not struggling, just less rich, is considered insane.
I was talking to a nurse at the clinic the other day and she told me something that’s been on my mind ever since.
She asked me, “You still rocking your baby to sleep every night?”
I told her yeah, I do it every single night since he was born.
She smiled big and said, “Same with my son. Everyone warned me I was making a huge mistake. They kept saying, ‘You’re gonna end up with a teenager who still wants to sleep in your bed.’ I was so scared of that.”
Then she leaned in and told me this story.
“A few weeks ago my 15-year-old came home from school looking destroyed. Wouldn’t talk to anyone. Just went straight to his room, put his music on, and I could hear him crying through the door. I gave him space, made dinner, and went to bed like normal. I was just about to turn off my lamp when the door creaked open.”
She paused, eyes a little misty.
“He padded in wearing his old pajama pants, climbed into my bed without saying a word, laid his head on my shoulder and just started crying harder. I wrapped my arm around him and asked softly, ‘What happened, baby?’”
The nurse continued, “He told me everything. About the girl who broke his heart, how his friends laughed at him when he got emotional, all the pressure he feels being him. He said, ‘Mom… it hurts so bad. I don’t know what to do.’”
She told him, “I know that pain. My first heartbreak felt like the world was ending. Some friends can be cruel too. But I’m right here, and we’re gonna get through this together.”
They talked for hours in the dark. He opened up about school stress, feeling lost, everything. Eventually he fell asleep right there on her shoulder, still sad but calmer. She stayed awake a little longer, just holding him, then fell asleep too.
When she finished telling me the story, she looked at me and said, “So yeah… they warned me I might have a teenager who still needed me at night. I spent years worrying about that. But I never stopped to think how beautiful it would actually be when it happened.”
Man… that one hit me right in the chest.
You can have Universal Healthcare, Housing, Pensions, Good Wages, Holidays, Cheap food/energy/fuel...
Or you can have billionaires and trillionaires ripping you off.
Turns out that "gifted, high-achieving child" who finished assignments in 10 minutes, read entire books under the blanket with a flashlight, and was praised for being mature... was actually just an undiagnosed ADHD girlie operating on pure, unregulated hyperfocus.
I don't know who needs to hear this, but if you "cured" your ADHD by sleeping 8 hours a night, exercising daily, and cutting sugar out of your diet, then you did not have ADHD to begin with.
