I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abides in me,and I in him,the same brings forth much fruit:for without me ye can do nothing.

For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
John 3:16 KJV
AN ODE TO MY SINGING SISTER.
My Dear Sister was born in the Church.
She was dedicated in the Church.
She grew up and began to sing with her beautiful captivating voice.
She praised the Lord and sang among the Choir.
She has such a wonderful beautiful voice, invested in her from Heaven to Heal the Wounded and Encourage the Hopeless and Save the Wandering Souls.
But, later, I found her outside,
Singing for the World and using that great voice that belong to God to sing about "Baby", Love, Guys and Pleasures and Money.
Later, I saw her picture
Wearing torn jeans like a Motor Mechanic uniform and
Wearing dreadlocks and exposing a little part of her upper breast.
Later, I saw her dancing and Twisting are body like a Snake.
Then i saw her dancing with a Muscular man in her video musical. Then, I saw the Man carry her in his arms in half nude clothing.
Later I saw her singing in the bathtub Beckoning at the Viewers to come. Oh! My Sister who grew up in the church singing for The Lord.
Oh! The various Choir Rehearsals!
Oh! The numerous fasting and prayers ahead of Church Conventions.
NOW Her beautiful Calling has been stolen by the World, to please the World.
MY SISTER IS ON THE LOOSE.
Who would bring her back?
Small time now, some of her Christian and Worldly friends would pick me up and begin to point to me that it is the FAULT OF THE CHURCH THAT SHE CARRIED THE GIFT THAT BELONG TO JESUS TO THE DEVIL.
They will say it is the Fault of the Pastors who have not encouraged her. But she was singing in the Choir before Now.
She was given chances to render special songs on Sunday naw.
She was asked to even sing at church anniversaries now.
Or how else must the Church support her?
Must the church buy her a piano?
Must the church pay her weekly for using her gift for the Lord?
Then all Ushers in the Church also must be encouraged.
All Protocol Officer and brethren at the Technical dept must be bought uniforms and encouraged too.
And we drama groups in church too.
The Church must build film village for us to encourage us.
They must use the Tithes to finance our Church drama groups and our movie productions.
Why must the church and Pastor be blamed for a gifted church singer who now chooses to sing at worldly concerts and clubs?.
I know what my Sister was looking for .
She wants FAME.
She wants FORTUNE.
SHE WANTS TO BELONG.
SHE WANTS TO BE FAMOUS.
But You can still sing for Jesus and for Heaven and still be Famous Now.
You can be famous as a drama actor and and Actress without going into the World to act now.
WHO WILL HELP ME TELL MY SISTER THAT THE GIFT OF SINGING WHICH WAS DEDICATED IN HER ON THE DAY HER PARENTS CARRIED HER TO THE CHURCH AS A BABY FOR DEDICATION, BELONG TO JESUS CHRIST AND TO HIM ONLY IT MUST BE USED.
My Darling Sister.
Where are the Music Stars of
Yerster-years ?
Maybe you don’t know that many of them have gone into total Irrelevance.
Many of them are alive but searching around for Relevance.
Their fans have abandoned them for new Stars whom they will also abandon when their relevance expires.
Do you want to end like that?

Disclaimer:This post is not for everyone‼️
While I was single and trusting God, God had already given me a clear word that my husband would come shortly
So I was looking out and waiting
While waiting, this very nice brother came and was very serious about marriage
By all yardsticks, there was no reason for me not to accept
He was a very good man
Solid child of God
He was doing very well
He was very passionate about my call and ministry
Every box that needed to be checked he checked
Super super patient and calm
I had ZERO reasons to say no.
But for the weirdest reasons, I lost my peace
The more perfect the man appeared, the more terrified I was
I prayed and prayed
The more I prayed, the more I was restless in my spirit
I knew I could not go ahead.
Here’s the abroad part of the story
This brother was making solid plans to travel out and he painted such a nice picture of life abroad
Before this time, I honestly didn’t want to leave the country to live
But he was making plans and asking me what kind of house I wanted, whether I wanted to further my education and all manner of stuff that seemed so beautiful
One mind said “Deborah, how would you let this go?”
“What if no body else like this comes???
“How are you sure this is not what you’ve been waiting for?”
“Other women would grab this with both hands “
Especially that ABROAD part
It was like “don’t you want to JAPA????😂😂😂
It was so painful to say no to this awesome man but I knew
I could not deny God was saying expressly NO
———————————————————————
Fast forward to just a week or two later, my Chiarman shows up
I knew nothing about this Yoruba man except that he lived in Lagos and for some reasons really wanted to marry me
Peace like I’ve never known flooded my heart
I was like “Ok this is the guy”😂😂
He did not paint any prospects
Infact it was till after he had proposed and I had said yes
He called one day and said “Babe, we are going abroad “
I was like “You say wetin”???!😂😂

I learnt such a huge lesson from this thing
🤍God has amazing stuff for us but you must be willing to trust blindly and foolishly and just follow
🤍The fact that it is good or great does not mean God is behind it ooo. Please read this again
🤍But you need to believe that whatever God gives you is the BEST for you. It may not appear like that initially. But if it is God that gives me, my dear Hold it tight. That’s exactly what you need

My parents divorced when I was three. My dad became a Christian and my mom wanted nothing to do with God. She ran off leaving me and my dad only to return 18 months later to kidnap me. A vicious and nearly continuous custody battle ensued over the next 10+ years.
Over time my mom became a successful executive and business owner. She was wealthy, popular, well traveled, and went through men like a fat kid through cookies. My dad remarried, had seven other kids, and became a struggling pastor. It was obvious as I grew up that God didn’t pay dividends. If you wanted to have fun and be successful it was best to leave God out of your life.
Although my dad was poor he scraped together the money to send me to a private Christian school until 7th grade. His finances wouldn’t allow him to do it after that because his family was growing. I started public school in 7th grade and quickly fell in with the wrong crowd. By 9th grade I was doing and selling drugs, stealing cars, breaking into houses etc etc.
I landed in juvey and met some folks from Atlanta. So at 16 I dropped out of school, moved to Atlanta, and started running drugs from Atlanta to Charleston. One night I got pulled over with enough drugs to put me in jail for decades. I remember begging God to get me out of this and promising Him if he did, I would never sell drugs again. He did and I didn’t
I switched gears and started a legitimate business. The business did great so I opened another and another until at 30 I was ‘on top of the world” financially. Over this time I met a wonderful woman, married her, and got into surfing.
Sounds like I had a perfect life, right?
Reality is, I was a functioning alcoholic with a drug problem. I could take care of business and by all worldly metrics it seemed I was doing great. However, I was never truly happy.
When my son was 1.5 years old I had a grande scheme to achieve happiness. I would sell my business, retire, & move to Costa Rica to party and surf in paradise.
I thought I had won at life. Happiness and fulfillment was achieved…for about 10 minutes. I had fewer responsibilities, world class waves in my backyard, more time to drink, and better drugs. How could I still be unhappy?
Fast forward…I’m 44 and by wordily metrics still doing great. My kids are older and are starting to see some issues with my lifestyle. While I loved them and provided financially, I was not a good father. I was putting my desire to party above their well being. I was selfish. I knew it and it bothered me but I would just put it out of my mind and go to the next party over and over again.
One day I received a call from a hospital in Jacksonville Florida and was told my mom was ill and I should come quickly. When I arrived I learned my mom had weeks to live and they planned to move her to hospice as soon as a bed opened up.
I was sitting next to my mom’s bed trying to put on a brave face but what could I do? I’m good at partying. My hospital skills suck. I have no way to comfort or heal her.
I decided to call my dad to let him know what was going on and to tell him I was in the US. About 10 min after we hung up I got a call from his wife, my step-mom. She told me I was welcome to bring my mom to her house instead of placing her in hospice. She urged me to allow them to take care of my mom in her dying days.
I was floored. This had to be some kind of trick. My mom did everything in her power to ruin my father. She caused untold hardship on him, and by association, his wife and family. Yet, here they are willing to have her in their house, not to visit, to die slowly over days maybe weeks??
I’ve made this long enough so I’ll try to make the ending short..
I took them up on their offer. For 15 days my dad and step-mom loved on my mom. They not only cared for her body but for her soul too. They shared the gospel with her, answered her questions, read scripture, and sang hymns. My mom came to Christ before she died in that bed. She confessed her sins and asked forgiveness from God.
As you might imagine this was a powerful experience. God brought my mom and dad together one last time to teach me about sin and forgiveness, love and redemption. I accepted Christ while sitting next to my mom’s deathbed.
My life has completely changed since I came to Christ. I place my sins on Christ’s account and no longer live with the guilt from my days as a drug dealer and addict. My actions and habits have changed. I no longer party. I am a more accessible father and more loving husband. I’ve found peace, forgiveness, and happiness in Christ.
If there is anyone reading this who is struggling to find happiness in their lives and would like to talk about what it is to be a Christian, I would be happy to speak with you. Hit me with a DM
