University students need to know what the plan is for them during the ongoing COVID-19 crisis👨‍🎓🧑‍🎓We need to be heard!

As is the culture for many university students, I would go out with my friends at night. My mum would worry about me endlessly. My friends and I would always use the classic phrase “Text me when you’re back safely”. Now we can also use “Send me your live location”.

As people, we ALL walk the streets of our towns and cities. We must do better. For one another. For Sarah. Women must be afforded the freedom to walk home and to go about their daily lives without fear. It should not take the tragic news that we have seen unfold to realise this.

@michelledonelan how do you define ‘students facing hardship’? Students are paying thousands for online teaching and accommodation they can’t live in - ALL students are facing hardship. Does this mean every student is entitled to recompense?

@DanielHewittITV It's a year next month since being in a lecture theatre, but still fee's are at £9250. Furlough is there for employees who can't go into an office, why are students bottom of the pile?

This first picture is from @officestudents, who are supposedly monitoring the universities and are the advised complaints channel by @michelledonelan. They recommend you visit the @oiahe, as can be seen...because no University wants to respond to complaints at the moment!

A tiresome, long-winded and absurd cycle. While balancing degrees and fighting for what is right, this is the complaints process students are expected to undertake. All because @michelledonelan and the gov. don’t want us to bring our problems to their doorstep. Enough is enough.

I reiterate. The minister @michelledonelan and the PM @BorisJohnson have NO idea what is happening in their universities. The @officestudents aren’t monitoring and probably don’t have the resources to look at each and every University. Do your job!

ALL students are experiencing hardship. I agree we should prioritise who needs it most, but EVERY student needs to see change. You admitted that it’s not the same. We are experiencing Open University right now, which is not what we signed up for. They pay £3000. Justify £9250.

@michelledonelan If the @officestudents were indeed monitoring Universities, they certainly haven’t monitored mine. You are relying on Universities to self assess whether or not their fees are justified. Which university is going to honestly admit that they’re overcharging?

Let me just break it down for you @michelledonelan. When I complained to my university, I’ve waited half a year for a response. I CANNOT proceed to OfS or the independent adjudicator until I have that close of play response. That time scale is absurd.
