@daveweigel "Affirming" the belief that a person is the wrong gender is akin to agreeing with the anorexic's decision to eat less food.
It might make them momentarily happy, but their mental illness will inevitably cause distress and pain. They deserve treatment for their illness.
@InezFeltscher Any "win" that is merely a memo from the executive branch can be undone with the next election. A true win requires Congress to do something.
@mattyglesias I have a strongly held preference for allowing parents to vote on behalf of their minor children.
Every citizen gets a vote (absent felons and the incarcerated). Until age 18, that vote is cast by their guardian.
@acaseofthegolf1@Mike_kim714 So you think the smart move is thinking about your career and money rather than playing in the event with more prestige and talented players?
Was the same rationale as the early LIV players.
@LouStagner@ProGolfCritic I don't disagree. But the idea of team sports applied to a traditionally individual sport isn't crazy.
The Ryder Cup and F1 racing teams work. That it didn't work here is true. Or at least the way LIV tried combined with the strength of opposition by the PGATour made it fail.
@AzizSunderji Because most people view it through the same lens. I’m just doing my small bit to try to have people view it as a place to live, trading rent for maintenance and taxes.
Policies that push its appreciation up in real dollars leads to the housing crunch we see.
@AzizSunderji@mattyglesias There is no silver bullet that allows a journalist to live on the Vineyard. But *at the margin*, more housing lowers prices by a little bit. And every little bit helps.
@kylamb8 Property taxes provide revenue for government services.
How do you propose to replace the lost revenue? Or, what government services do you propose to stop providing?
@d_krock@jasonlewris Given that the market spoke at $497K, they were about $140K high.
The market price is the price that a willing buyer meets a willing seller. Not what Zillow says or what the seller bought it for.
@ChristinaPushaw It is a bad proposal. Californians loved Prop 13 when it was passed but it has contributed to their housing crisis. This proposal will do something similar. I will vote no when the time comes.
