If we’re serious about fighting corruption, we can’t stop at exciting the public with House arrests and headlines. People must be prosecuted and convicted so everyone learns the lesson. This habit of forgiving, only for them to fight us again later demoralizes every anti-corruption crusader. You can’t convict Nandutu over 300 iron sheets, then forgive the one who stole the entire economy. The law must apply equally big or small fish.
Let us be careful in reporting @AJEnglish ,@AJENews . A regional Ebola figure is not a Ugandan death certificate.
To say “DRC and Uganda have reported 263 cases and 43 deaths” without separating where the deaths occurred is not reporting. It is statistical fog dressed as public health communication.
Uganda must not be casually placed inside another country’s mortality column.
If there are deaths in Uganda, name the district, cite the Ministry of Health, and give the exact number.
If the deaths are largely or entirely elsewhere, say so with discipline.
In matters of public health, careless language can travel faster than disease.
Facts save lives. Sensationalism spreads panic.
@KwikirizaNova So you sat down, thought, and came up with an analysis that a prospective member of parliament is more competent than a member of parliament who excellently delivered on the floor of parliament simply because the former is on social media.
Smh 🤦
🚨BREAKING: Met Police Arrested 9 People during the Arsenal Parade, after carrying out investigations it was discovered that the people were not Arsenal supporters but Chelsea and Manchester United Fans who were there to cause trouble.
@SkyNews reports.
Emmanuel Petit on Premier League clubs mocking Arsenal after the final defeat:
🗣️ “I have to say, I found it embarrassing.
The second Arsenal lost, some Premier League clubs couldn't wait to jump on social media and remind everyone about their European trophies.
That tells you everything.
Instead of supporting an English club representing the league on the biggest stage in club football, they were busy celebrating Arsenal's pain.
For me, that's not rivalry. That's insecurity.
Arsenal were 90 minutes away from doing something special, and rather than show respect, people were desperately searching through the history books for old trophies to post online.
Why? Because they were terrified of seeing Arsenal join that club.
Let's be honest, some of these clubs spent the entire season watching Arsenal compete at a level they couldn't reach.
The jealousy was obvious.
The moment Arsenal fell short, they treated it like they had won something themselves.
That's the mentality of people who would rather see Arsenal fail than focus on their own success.
The trophy may have slipped away, but the reaction from some rivals showed exactly how much Arsenal still live rent-free in their heads.”
I have a ticket for the Arsenal vs PSG game on Saturday. I didn't realise that it was going to be on the same day as my wedding, so I can't go!! If you're interested and want to go, it's at St. Andrew's Church in Cambridge and his name is Andy…
I join my colleagues in congratulating Rt Hon @ObothOboth and Rt Hon @Thomas_Tayebwa on their election as Speaker and Deputy Speaker of the 12th Parliament. I have no doubt that your leadership will bolster the legislative agenda and promote outcomes that serve our nation's best interests. I sincerely wish you success in your service to our country.
I congratulate the Rt. Hon. Speaker Jacob Oboth Oboth and Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa and thank the MPs for carrying out their mandate of voting, peacefully and transparently.
The NRM candidates obtained more votes than the NRM members in the House, and I note the votes our ally Mao took away. We shall address this because we want a united Parliament that serves our people better.
