@glangley If the police didn’t need a warrant to search a house or probable cause to arrest a suspect we would likely stop a ton of crime.

We don’t do those things because we value freedom. It doesn’t matter how much safety you have if you live in a surveillance/police state.

@ProblemAddicted @tjmorris_bear Here’s the problem, patrolling under night vision isn’t intuitive. Driving under night vision isn’t intuitive. Shooting under night Vision isn’t intuitive. There is no way in hell a single night can even give you the basics. $1.6k for 1 night is nuts. Especially w/o live fire.

Hell, you can almost get a PVS-14 for that $1.6k.

We also never had protracted fire fights. It was always short mostly due to us having a mortar team with us at the COP and Apaches almost never more than 5 min away. Those ambushes were quick and dirty but always at a distance (100m+)

@_JesseCinco @marvinarms6 Hell, we normally suppressed the crap of of them until we could get an Apache on station. But yes, we absolutely got kills out to 250+ meters. We had one guy at an OP get a 600 meter kill with a non-magnified M4 with a red dot. A luck shot but the dude dropped.

@_JesseCinco @marvinarms6 Listen, I was definitely not SF. Just a normal grunt, but we took a ton of contact and got hit a ton. The Iraqi learned early not to hit us up close. That’s why they used IED‘s and ambush tactics. I’m not sure how you didn’t experience that unless you were solely an assaulter.

@_JesseCinco I was in Iraq and we never had a tic that was closer than 100 meters. Usually further.

Also, with overwatch and PID with the ability to engage longer distance targets in an environment that isn’t a free fire zone.
