@elonmusk Maybe the USA should be abolished and sovereignty returned to individual states, so that governments can better represent their people.
But it's got bugger all to do with me, just as what Europe does has bugger all to with him.
This is very good from Matthew D'Ancona. I particularly like the idea that when I get to the café in an hour's time, I won't just be sitting on my arse with a book but joining the Resistance.

Having debts greater than annual income does NOT mean you are "bankrupt" or "insolvent" – as almost everyone with a mortgage knows.
You'd think an "entrepreneur" would know that too.
The U.K is on the edge of bankruptcy. National debt is almost £3 trillion
100% of GDP: the entire yearly economy in debt
The UK owes more than it earns. That means it’s insolvent
The debt fuels inflation & taxes. It pushes your prices up and your savings down
While you’re getting poorer the U.K. will raise taxes further & borrow MORE money
No one running the U.K has ever run a business & they are ruining our economy. Why?
@SBarrettBar Why does it need to "sink in"?
All criminal prosecution are brought in the King's name, whether they're "leading comedians", TV stars, politicians or anyone else.
I thought you were a lawyer.
@CamillaTominey@ChrisMasonBBC Johnson also cost us £10.5 billion through Covid fraud, dodgy contracts and his innumerable cock-ups.
And unlike Ange he never apologised or paid us back.
@JeremyClarkson Weird comment. She was paid by the taxpayer because she worked for the council. Are you suggesting people who work for the council should do it for free?
Why do people who say this sort of thing never think of taking their own advice, pulling on the khaki and going to fight for the side they just as vehemently support?
Ha, ha! Grok is useless. It not only thinks it's not AI (which it very obviously is) but also that it was taken 1944. With people wearing jeans and leggings!
@kimlovemyboys@cturnbull1968@LangmanVince The image is a real historical photo from August 1944, showing crowds greeting British troops during the liberation of Paris near the Arc de Triomphe. It doesn't appear photoshopped, but it's set in France, not the UK.
@johnredwood@BasPortie39604 Was this 16th century England that you speak of a land of freedom, or an absolute monarchy in which you couldn't even practice a variation of the state religion without hiding in the wall cavity?
@mhdksafa@RuthDevlin Yes, because non-Western leaders are so much better on human rights, aren't they?
Maybe you should just have left it at "leaders".
@darrengrimes Seems to be a flag on that hat. Looks a bit like Ukraine's, but it certainly isn't the St George's Cross or the Union Jack, which I thought were the only flags allowed by Reform.
@AllisonPearson I assume you mean François Bayrou's government. It faces a confidence motion on 8 September, which it might well lose. Macron's position as president is not affected. He will either appoint someone else or dissolve the Assembly and call fresh elections.
