First off, I just want to say thanks. The world has thrown itself into disarray, but Canada can rely on you to stay levelheaded, and exemplify all that it is to be Canadian on the world stage.

What I really want to say, though, is that you’re absolutely right to stand up to Trump. There is a game being played, and any scholar who looks at the past of this “businessman” can see the same blueprint he has always followed: he doesn’t know shit, but he talks over the people who do, threatens, cajoles, and prattles on until people will literally do what he says just to shut him up. That’s all this is.

I don’t care anymore. If the US wants to call it Lake America, let them. If they want to keep going on about 51 states, let them. They can insult, jeer, rail, blame, and generalize us… let them. It’s all the posturing of a witless bully, and everyone knows it. All that America will have left when he’s gone is decades of hardship… and that’s the real tragedy.

He can waste his energy and taxpayers money waging futile wars of ineloquent words and fruitless actions, but the truth remains the same: he will never have our respect, he will never have Lake Ontario, he will never have Canada, he will never have The Gulf of Mexico, he will never have Greenland, and he will never have the United States of America. All he will have is the title of “The worst President in US History” and he’ll take that to his grave.

Thank you for being our first line of defence, and our last spoken word in solidarity - you’re doing a difficult job in an incredible way.

Picked up a prescription

$340 after insurance

I just paid $340 for a medication that costs $4 to manufacture

And now you want a dollar

I pressed no

The pharmacist said "it's just a dollar"

I said "it's never just a dollar"

She didn't respond

Got home

My wife said "you said no to a children's hospital, veterans, education, and families in need today"

I said "no. I said no to four corporations who want me to fund their goodwill so they can put it in their annual report"

She was quiet

Then she said "you're not wrong"

I said "I know"

She said "but you're still going to look like a monster"

I said "I'd rather look like a monster than quietly fund a billion-dollar company's PR strategy at the register"

She didn't disagree

But she didn't look at me either

I disagree @frank_seravalli. You claims USA had a more complete team, and Canada was a one line team. Who shut down team USA the majority of the game? One line?Really? Canads outplayed USA by a lot in most statistical categories other than in goal. It was a great game. Full stop.

Here's a piece of literature by me, suitable for seventeen-year-olds in Alberta schools, unlike -- we are told -- The Handmaid's Tale. (Sorry, kids; your Minister of Education thinks you are stupid babies.)

John and Mary were both very, very good children. They never picked their noses or had bowel movements or zits. They grew up and married each other, and produced five perfect children without ever having sex. Although they claimed to be Christian, they paid no attention to what Jesus actually said about the poor and the Good Samaritan and forgiving your enemies and such; instead, they practised selfish rapacious capitalism, because they worshipped Ayn Rand. (Though they ignored the scene in The Fountainhead where “welcomed rape” is advocated, because who wants to dwell, and also that would have involved sex and would de facto be pornographic. Well, it kind of is, eh?) Oh, and they never died, because who wants to dwell on, you know, death and corpses and yuk? So they lived happily ever after. But while they were doing that The Handmaid’s Tale came true and Danielle Smith found herself with a nice new blue dress but no job. The end.
