Love the absolutely clarity of this. Where there is crystal clear expectations and young people are explicitly taught this, it becomes the norm and teachers waste much less time dealing with grey areas & more time teaching. Love following the journey of @AAWoodfields
Introducing pink spots and pink lines. Pink spots - a duty point that staff must occupy if empty
Pink lines - one foot either side and queue if at a T, otherwise a corridor divider, walk on left
A great, thought provoking article from @jon_hutchinson_ - FWIW if you throw in the pressure on schools over EBacc & in turn the decline in GCSE entries of the creative subjects over the past 10 years, the impact on the wider curriculum & enrichment offer in schools has been huge
"We might offer this as an explicit deal: a grade or two worse in each GSCE in exchange for more residentials, more group work in class, more opportunities to socially interact during lessons."
A fascinating thought-piece from @jon_hutchinson_

We’re hiring @ArkSchools! We know an entitlement in cultural learning is the right of every child, we believe working in partnership is the way to do it …but we need someone to help us work out the detail!

On my way to the @MusicEdExpo this morning. Looking forward to spending the day in some awesome sessions and connecting with people from across the sector. Always on the look out for great people doing great things to work with us at @ARKSchoolsMusic!
Excellent article.
I do think though that the whole graded exam system in music education needs an overhaul. It is yet another financial barrier put in the way of young musicians in the UK. A luxury only there for those who have the means to pay for it.
🚨 NEW BLOG POST 🚨
ABRSM continue to require Grade 5 Theory to have been passed prior to candidates sitting Grades 6 and above practical exams. But what is the purpose of this exam, and who does this prerequisite really serve? Is it time for a debate?
