Trial by Fire 🔥
Sailors assigned to the Whidbey Island-class dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall (LSD 44), with support from Navy Region Mid-Atlantic Fire and Emergency Services, conducted an 8010 validation exercise, Nov. 21, 2025.
The exercise evaluates the ship’s ability to respond to a fire in an industrial environment, assessing its emergency teams, firefighting capabilities, and integration with external responders in preparation for an upcoming maintenance period.
On any given day in 2025, roughly 13,000 National Guardsmen were on duty protecting our homeland. When America needed them the most, Guard Soldiers and Airmen left their homes and families at a moment’s notice, supporting local, state, and federal partners across the homeland.
