The reasons why I don’t believe in curl typing.
Sometimes you can have different curls on the same hair strand.
She went from “3c” (zig zag) to “4c” (coil)
1. Part your hair into smaller sections to define your curls after you’ve applied your gel.
This will help with the movement of your curls once they’re dry. Without separating them they’ll dry clumped together.
3. Fully drying your hair helps the gel create a cast around your curls. This how you can get 5+ days out of a set.
Hooded dryer = minimal to no frizz & elongated set
Diffuser = minimal frizz & slight shrinkage
Air drying (esp. in cool climates) = shrinkage & frizz
2. Add more water!
Most water based gels work best on damp hair.
Not enough water & too much gel = stiff set
Not enough gel & water = frizz & shrinkage & the set may not last long.
This may not apply to alcoholic based gels like ecostyler & wetline.
Also, growth rate is easily changed by diet, illness, medication, moving to a sunnier climate, pregnancy, and calorie restriction. Eating healthier and increasing metabolic output can absolutely increase your growth rate. Moderately, of course, but it can be increased.
3 ways to care for your natural hair underneath those headband wigs and wigs.
Cause neglecting your natural hair under a wig or in protective styles isn’t the key to caring for it either…
Haircuts are not just about split ends. They are used to create dramatic volume or decrease it. Create movement or reduce bulk. Slim or widen the face. Enhance or minimize profile. Some of y’all can’t get the look you want because you’re too concerned about losing length.
Volume and length aren’t synonymous, especially if you have fine hair. For my fro to be big, I MUST have short layers on top. Y’all need good haircuts, not just long hair.
